A while back we discussed having people on alpha channels undertaking actions etc. I came across the following

http://allbetsareoff.com/products/crowd-control/

These appear to be the appropriate type of product.

But.....

Its expensive
Not packaged as a product
Available for download only

I'm sure DJ could do a much better job of the concept and approach. It's only actors shot on a green screen anyway.

Mark: Why are you posting another company product in this forum and then cut it down? Do you have first hands on knowledge of Crowd Control or any of the other products listed that you could enlighten us with? Can you stand by your comment that DJ could do a better job? Do you even know who Aharon Rabinowitz is? Boy I'm making a lot of assumption here aren't I.

Having followed Aharon Rabinowitz for many years I would say this is probably a top notch product.

It looks like a good product, but I think Mark means that DJ would do it cheaper and it would probably be a packaged product and the overall content would be awesome as well.  DJ would probably do it at a higher frame rate too, but I'm not sure what frame rate Aharon' s is at.

Ok. Did not mean to cause any issues or offense.

Fully respect Aharon's work, and believe that the product will be a quality product. Everything on the web site looks like it will be a quality product. (although not sure you will ever get to have over a 1GB download that is effective for HD).

My point for digital juice is that they would be able to market the product more sucessfully, at the right price point and to a wider audience. They have the expertise to bundle it into the right packages, professionally produced and shipped to the right audiences. Like most juicers I'm not a professional, I do this for a hobby, at $50 dollars a throw per clip; I won't be using the product, no matter how good quality. It can only be afforded by professionals.

My point more than anything else is that there is the professional market and the hobbiest. DJ appeals to both and is affordable. I don't feel that Aharon's product has resolved this issue as effctively as digital juice does. As such, there is a market opportunity.

I'm a fellow hobbyist, but I believe that most juicers are actually professionals (I using professional as meaning full time job not skill level or the approach of doing the work).  Sometimes the forums can give the illusion that DJ's main client is hobbyists, but in previous DJ polls, that isn't the case.  I realize these aren't scientific, but probably pretty close:

Fair cop, not everyone is a hobbiest. Even so I still can't afford $50 a clip ? I'm sure many professional editors cannot afford this either. Although I'm sure it is marginally cheaper than putting together a green screen and hiring lots of actors.

I'm trying to work in HD all the time now, just so that all clips are output into HD and then if needed reduced to SD for DVD output. TYhe resulting output is much sharper and cleaner. (although it does add marginally to editing and export times). All the DJ HD products just look great in HD.
