Justin Chenier -> Forum ratings (8/29/2006 10:53:59 PM)

For the longest time I had no rating. Now I'm showing a -2, but I can't find where I've been given a bad rating. Can someone explain?

Deredain -> RE: Forum ratings (8/29/2006 10:58:13 PM)

I can't explain it, but I just gave you two points for asking!

John Carothers -> RE: Forum ratings (8/30/2006 12:32:43 AM)

And now you have 2 on the plus is to get you going in that direction. [:)]

Runamok -> RE: Forum ratings (8/30/2006 12:35:04 AM)

That was a good one! I will even kick in a buffer for you in case it happens again.

chunkubis -> RE: Forum ratings (8/30/2006 1:11:20 AM)

and two ta grow on.. .and 2 for each of you for doing so

Runamok -> RE: Forum ratings (8/30/2006 1:13:58 AM)

Just call this thread point central!

chunkubis -> RE: Forum ratings (8/30/2006 1:31:07 AM)

justin, i looked at every one of your posts and can't find where you were missing points either. I have no idea how it happened.

mediatvguy -> RE: Forum ratings (8/30/2006 9:56:52 AM)

Points to you Justin

wizard -> RE: Forum ratings (8/30/2006 12:10:12 PM)

Ya got a point there!

Justin Chenier -> RE: Forum ratings (8/30/2006 12:23:18 PM)

WOW! You guys are great! I came on to see if someone from DJ had a reason for the -2 only to find I was suddenly popular! I still wonder why I had the -2 when I couldn't find a single rating to any of my posts... I guess it's one of the mysteries of the juice.

By the way, what do you call OJ Simpson's index finger? Digital Juice!

wizard -> RE: Forum ratings (8/30/2006 12:34:39 PM)

Careful, you'll loose a point. [:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]

MikeM -> RE: Forum ratings (8/31/2006 2:37:46 AM)

Hhmmm, I think if we throw the points around like that the scores value means nothing. So we could just as well stop rating. [8|]

Deredain -> RE: Forum ratings (8/31/2006 7:09:04 AM)

Mike, I don't think the scores really mean anything anyway. Except to feed our egos! [:)]

velvis -> RE: Forum ratings (8/31/2006 2:36:43 PM)

if that is the case then mine is about to explode.

[:D]

wizard -> RE: Forum ratings (8/31/2006 6:58:18 PM)

I'd have to add some Viagra to mine first.

arcwin -> RE: Forum ratings (8/31/2006 7:11:19 PM)

Velvis has almost as many points as she has posts.  I only have 1 little point but I was happy as anything to get it.

wizard -> RE: Forum ratings (8/31/2006 7:42:19 PM)

OH, that was so cruel, whoever took your point away, so this should make up for it.

I hate to say it but I agree with MikeM on this. I like the point system but this is really abusing it.

You can throw your rotten tomatoes at me now....

David Slater -> RE: Forum ratings (8/31/2006 7:59:26 PM)

I am with MikeM and MrE on this as well

i happen to agree with you about the point system AND i happen to have tomatoes icons...what to do, what to do...

David Slater -> RE: Forum ratings (8/31/2006 8:04:05 PM)

food fight?

MrE -> RE: Forum ratings (8/31/2006 8:04:38 PM)

Hmmm... decisions... decisions... I'll have to go with... [image]http://www.velvetelvis.com/phpbb2/images/smiles/icon_tomato.gif[/image]

I have a better chance of dodging one BIG tomato than several small ones [:D]

wizard -> RE: Forum ratings (8/31/2006 8:08:36 PM)

Points to you on that one MrE. :)

MrE -> RE: Forum ratings (8/31/2006 8:08:49 PM)

Best way to get points is to post tutorials and freebies like Velvis does...

or

Start a thread about how great Digital Juice is [;)]

Justin Chenier -> RE: Forum ratings (8/31/2006 8:25:30 PM)

I started all this, just trying to figure out how I had a -2 when there wasn't any sign of any negative ratings... or any ratings for that matter. Who can argue about the goodness of the juice?

Deredain -> RE: Forum ratings (8/31/2006 8:37:51 PM)

Mr. E. and Velvis:
The regulars around here know those contributers who have made a difference in these forums. The two of you, as well as some others, stand out in my mind regardless of any points you may or may not have.

velvis -> RE: Forum ratings (8/31/2006 8:44:54 PM)

Well that was a nice thing to say, thanks Ron!

Graham -> RE: Forum ratings (8/31/2006 8:56:44 PM)

The points system is linked to the number of posts to get your wonderful red balls. The problem is....I haven't really turned that on yet. If I did almost all of you would loose a ball or two....[8D]

It should work like this...

You are meant to rate peoples posts on how helpful they are. A combination of points and posts would bring you up in ranks in the forums. Similar to how the apple site is. Over the next few weeks Matt and I are going through the whole forums to do some streamlining and reorganize a few things. I can change anyones title which I think I will continue to do as I like to give special names to those that are really helpful. As for the standard names, well, i'm gonna open that up to everyone for input.

Matt -> RE: Forum ratings (8/31/2006 9:35:24 PM)

I personally never really cared about post numbers, and my score. It was all just fun to joke about, I never for one second took it seriously, but now that I am here I am finding many people take it serious.
I say post and have fun, help out when you can, get help when you need it, thats all that really matters to me.

Velvis you just beat my score [:(]

John Carothers -> RE: Forum ratings (8/31/2006 10:34:21 PM)

Well Ron, it appease as if you and I created a monster. If we only had a monster slayer...

john

Graham -> RE: Forum ratings (8/31/2006 10:36:19 PM)

Yes, you have let the monster out now...heaven help us all!!!![:)]

JasonGaines -> RE: Forum ratings (8/31/2006 10:36:36 PM)

I say we tie in scores to free juice, that way, when someone gets a certain score based on the new system Graham and Matt are working on, it is another reason to be helpful, to be on the site, and to vote appropriately instead of haphazzordly. (Did I even spell that correctly lol, IDK?)

[:)]

Runamok -> RE: Forum ratings (8/31/2006 11:03:37 PM)

Now everyone need to go back and take away all the points they passed out in this thread...

If you have looked at every one of your posts and none of them have a - rating than the only possible explanation is that you may a gotten a - rating on a post that was deleted... IDK?

wizard -> RE: Forum ratings (9/1/2006 1:21:00 AM)

Ditto, Matt.

Hhmm, should I take this personally [8|]

Deredain -> RE: Forum ratings (9/1/2006 7:49:43 AM)

I have given Justin a subsequent -2 for his next post to even out the injustice that I had served up, though I do remember a time when I was a young forum "red shirt" and people gave me points for asking what the points were for.

No good deed goes unpunished and now I feel like I am in one of those looping Star Trek time travel episodes where I try to figure out how to make the order of the universe whole again so I can stop the loop and get out! [:-]

And now back to our regular programming....

No. Nothing against you at all. There are some threads that I purposely avoid for whatever reason. I didn't want to be the "bad guy" and thats what I meant by saying "I hate to say it".

MikeM -> RE: Forum ratings (9/1/2006 2:20:01 PM)

OK. Never mind. [:)]

wizard -> RE: Forum ratings (9/3/2006 2:03:17 AM)

Well, how about restarting everyone with zero posts and zero score, post some guidelines to dictate what they are and how to acquire them, then stand back and let the games begin. (again)
