Hey all wonderful Juiced-up Vegasites.  I am going to be making a 300 like spin-off, with the actors being...Italian Greyhound Puppies...  I realize this sounds off the wall, but they (5 boys 1 girl) fight like Spartans and Persians and I have yet to use my Magic Bullet Plug-ins so I figure why not.  Aside from the impratical story line the slow-mo to high speed kill (or bite in this scenario) is what will make or break my 60sec short.  My question is, knowing the style I'll be going for, is what frame rate should I film at?  I have a Canon XH-A1  and I know that 24F is out.  Too dreamy and not good with the motion especially zoomed in on 4 lb dogs.  Will I get better results from a interlaced 60i or a progressive 30F?  It will be HDV and any advice will be appreciated.  Distribution will be Quicktime with Squeeze applied.   Lastly, I can't wait to try and Sound Forge Xerxes voice.  I don't think I'll get it right, but maybe something omniscient for good measure.  Thanks for your help.

I'd experiment with shutter speeds over frame rate, imho.

Hi Charles,

I agree with Jeff. The frame rate will affect your lighting quite a bit. You might want to try both 30F and 60i while adjusting the frame shutter to see how it looks...  And, you'll definitely need to play with the aperture for lighting.

I shot some martial arts footage in 60i and it slowed down really well with lots of deatil and not too much blur...  Haven't tried it in 30f.

I did shoot some 24F with slow shutter speeds and the effect was actually a cool matris like blur as the hands and feet moved. Definitely interesting and with the XH-A1 like you...
