Speaking of "Pay it Forward", how does that work with the non-transferable licensing agreement?

Hi "tjh" let me welcome you again to the Forums. I'm not from DJ, so I can't give you an official answer, but from what I've read in the Forums, a free gift of a DJ product is ok. We are just not allowed to resell our DJ products. I believe if you go to the "Pay It Forward " thread there is a bit more of an explanation about the question you bring up... All the best...

quote: This is an excellent point; eg if I'd waited to buy, I almost always would've gotten better deals, and would have saved thousands of dollars, compared to initial JB/ETK pricing I and others paid... though of course the delay means we can't use it in production. The message does indeed seem to be "if you wait, you'll get it at a lower price in the future". For example, I would not be surprised to see the original ETKs come back (in fact I'd bet money on it), later this year around the holidays (though I could be wrong). We've had plenty of discussions regarding the pricing here, overall it's great pricing, but those of us who pay up full price on new product release (faithful customers) who then see something we paid $300 now on sale for $69 or whatever, leaves a sour taste in our mouth. It seems to me that there should be some kind of "price protection" built in, eg if we buy something which later gets slashed in price, say within 10-12 months, we get at least some credit voucher, if not a rebate, since we overpaid for it. And if something goes on sale and it says "100 units left" or "Good only today" that we don't see that offer magically "extended" or "brought back to life 2 months later", as that doesn't seem like honest advertising, as others have posted about in months past. Big picture, the products and pricing are great, no complaints there, it's in your repeated inconsistency of putting stuff on sale for less than we paid originally, and/or bogus timelines/deadlines/boy who cries wolf/ type pricing sales etc that's the objection. thx, Ken < Message edited by ken -- 4/25/2008 8:39:41 AM > _____________________________ Ken JB/STX/ETKs/SFX/JBHD/BTX/MDEs: most (in reply to Elen) |

Usually, early adopters pay a premium in just about whatever they purchase. Look at computers, MP3 players, DVD players, CD players, content (like movies and music), etc.... For that premium you get to use that product (whatever it is) before others - In the case of juice, your productions will have those elements before other producers' products. DJ has been one of the few places where early adopters get a break - Sure the price is gonna come down - It does with everything (except consumables - like food and gas and things that are market driven like houses and stocks). This has always been the way with technology products and I don't see it changing anytime soon. Just MHO. _____________________________ DJ Counts (Hundreds+) "It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it." - Aristotle My Juice: http://video.birdcat.com/djlist.txt (in reply to ken) |

DJ has put a price protection policy in place, at least for some items. They even gave everyone that bought PowerCuts originally a coupon for the difference. Most things it is the early adopters that pay more. I paid over $700 for my first DVD player, am I calling the manufacturer saying that I should now get a refund since you can get a better model (up-scaling, etc) for under $50. No. It is nice that DH has given early adopters a great price, but it shouldn't be expected. _____________________________ Marc (in reply to birdcat) |

Right - but I'm not talking about buying something 5 years ago that's now a fraction of the cost (some people seem to love using exaggerated/non-applicable flawed metaphors to support their positions - wonder why?), I mean 2007 purchases, eg within 10-12 months, it just seems to me that if we buy something as soon as it comes out, we should'nt expect to see the price slashed a few months later, when we're told on new product release that it's a big sale offer we got for buying early. The pricing inconsistencies and sale related issues are a hot button for many people here, and I agree with Elen on her point. I for one would like to know that if I buy products costing me $250 today, my competitors can't come in 5 months later and get the same thing for 30% less, because when you spend as many thousands of dollars on DJ content as I have, it starts to add up - and when a new product is presented as a big savings, eg "regular price $149 but first 500 units, get it for $69" - it seems inconsistent/false advertising to then see it at a much bigger discount 6 months later. I'm just asking, as others are, for some kind of transparency and consistency in pricing. -k < Message edited by ken -- 4/25/2008 10:22:48 AM > _____________________________ Ken JB/STX/ETKs/SFX/JBHD/BTX/MDEs: most (in reply to mptribe) |

Ok Ken - I thought a bit before posting this - I can't speak for DH or anyone else for that matter but I personally find your post insulting. What I read in it is a clear threat to start filing lawsuits and complaints against DJ if they don't fall in line with a pricing model that you prefer. Please let me know if I am misreading something here. I just find that very disturbing that anyone would deign to threaten something like this because you don't like something they do. My suggestion would be that if you don't like the company for any reason, whether that be something they do or their products or whatever, then stop buying from them. Threats are not only bad manners, they really don't portray you in a good light at all. Just my very humble opinion. _____________________________ DJ Counts (Hundreds+) "It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it." - Aristotle My Juice: http://video.birdcat.com/djlist.txt (in reply to ken) |

Ken- Just wait 12 months to purchase products anything. Personally I just wish I had the the wasted time back I spent reading all your crap. Maybe I can find an agency to sue you over that issue. I kind of figured you already know you are an ass, but just in case I was not clear enough, I wanted to make sure you know how that is how I felt about you each and every time I have read any of your posts. Unlike DJ's prices, you don't seem to get better over time. < Message edited by Runamok -- 4/25/2008 9:36:43 AM > _____________________________ Well...that's my story and I am sticking to it! quote: I agree that personal attacks are not a good thing - But isn't threats of legal action the same thing?
