This is meant towards no one, so please do not read it that way. It seems to me that each of us work differently and i would assume that a majority of the regular posters on this forum are quite successful at what they do. At least, reading from the posts of the regulars, it seems we are all quite busy and successful. I am always happy when someone brings a suggestion that could improve my work habits or my quality of life. However, it frustrates me, when general statements are made that seem to say "you all...." That assumes that we do not have a brain, or have our "act together." Are there some who post a lot on this forum? Absolutely. I do, or have done so in the last 3 weeks (nearing 300 posts.) I relieve my stress that way, (at least most of the time, except for a few days when heated discussions carried me away.) I like this forum. I have said it before. There is a special community here. Some of us like and need that. But to indicate that since we spend time on the forum (a few minutes here and there) that life is not busy for us or that we are not successful, is an attitude that really is way off. As all of us know, it is too easy to make assumptions, and very easy to give advice, (some unwanted.) It is very easy to be read as 'better than others." I know that, because some thought that of my posts. Can we remember, that everyone is different but that doesn't mean that we are not in various stages of success. Just my $0.02 _____________________________ Paul D, Rainmaker Business Success Enterprises http://www.BusinessSuccessEnterprises.com Bedrock Alliance Group, Inc http://www.BedrockAllianceGroup.com "To Get What We've Never Had, We Must Do What We've Never Done!" Hi Merch, I appreciate your concern, and Yes, I whole-heartedly agree with you that time management and marketing are vital in running a good business .... But, with all due respect, perhaps you're being a bit too much of a "Den Father" to..... adults. Cub scouts, ie little boys in scouting, need that guiding figure and admonishments - but adults? But I did think about your words and analyzied my management of time: I'm working with clients frequently 14 -16 hrs a day, not including preparation and follow-up, nor travel or adminstrative time. However, it does include marketing, because I believe that the best way to do that is to work with clients: to understand their needs, expectations, hopes, vision and to meet those the best I can within their budgetery and time constraints. Satisfied, Happy clients make my marketing efforts easier: They tell colleagues, etc. They come back again. An important aspect of this is timing - knowing when to encourage, when to deliver more than they expected, when to lay the cards on the table and tell them the dreamed outcome is going to require more time and a bigger budget, etc... Timing - There's a time to laugh and a time to make money, a time to seek out friends, a time to throw cold water on the party and a time to join in the fun - for each of us there is a different rthm and a different amount of time, a style, a different business model. Can we learn from each other? Of course - that's why we're all here to share, to learn, to help - and Yes, to have a bit of good "wordy" fun ! :))) I love dropping by the DJ Forums - love the humour, the wordy wits, the smilies, the words of helpful advice, the inspiration, the encouraging support. I stop by the Forums as often as I can - in fact I keep my cell phone linked to The DJ Forums so all I have to do is tap in when I have a momento and see what's up..... It's a nice way to relax a little - and I find, far healthier than a coffee break or veggies! With all respect, Merch, this might be time - not for veggies - but a deep breath, so as to relax and enjoy the posts of those who eat their veggies, a well as those who don't. ...Time to enjoy the beauty of the written word as it brings people together... And it's always time to enjoy good company. Come on, there's always time for laughter and enjoyable learning and sharing. Life is too short for JUST work! :)) _____________________________ 75% Juiced (in reply to mptribe) |

Troy: I just noticed your animated smoking smilie: BRILLIANT! Can you tell I'm a devout non-smoker, except for two cigars a year: one during the first golf game with one of my best friends who nearly died a number of years ago and the other at the end of a ten year running 4 day conference we provide all the video and support for. He quit smoking a number of years ago and said that the urge to smoke was so high for him and that knowing he could "cheat" twice a year gave him the fortitude NOT to smoke the rest of the year.

quote: Well Merch, first off - I try to never take ANY posts personally here, and I wasn't trying to justify my day to you. I was just responding to your request to think about your post - so I thought about it - and then responded. No animosity, not defensive, no attack. Just an explanation that I place more value on different priorities than you seem to. Not better, not worse, just different. (hence my different strokes for different folks comment) and I don't disagree with your advice. [qoute] Wiz, when I mentioned the orbs, I was relating my comments to real-life situations. Take the 20 page Microsoft script I recently recorded. When in session, I couldn't nicely say to the Client "I've got 3 orbs, what about that?" Here it seems you've really missed my point. And for that I apologize. The orbs are not that important. The world doesn't revolve around that. I was trying to have a fun thread, and defuse some of the "heated" discussions that have been taking place by focusing on something less controversial. Evidently I've failed - I apologize. But - as long as it's taken this direction, why would you want say to a client "I've got three anythings, what about that?" that would seem out of place to me, kind of like saying here "I've got three clients, what about that?" What would be the point? And, if this is a waste of "some people's time" - well - all I can think of to respond to that is - I'd recommend they not waste time - especially when there's money to be made. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() < Message edited by wizard -- 4/29/2008 12:55:35 PM > _____________________________ Pops (in reply to Merch) |

Last time I check, the clock seems to keep ticking regardless how many management techniques I try to employ. Wait minute, I got an idea, I'll just take the batteries out of the clock when I need more time. Ah ha! It worked, the clock stopped. Now, I can control time to my hearts content. Get a phone without a clock on it. Or put a piece of duct/gaffers tape over the clock portion of the phone. _____________________________ Marc (in reply to turkcsg) |

Your phone has a clock? Wow, technology has really advanced. I still put my finger in a dial and spin it to select numbers. Oh wait a minute, that's not my phone, that's Bill's!

If the option doesn't allow for going beyond 5 orbs, maybe you'd be allowed to add the 6th orb to your signature. ![]() ![]() ![]()

In conclusion... My comments were intended to evoke positive thoughts amongst The Juice Collective. Maybe even help those whom procrastinate, realise and discover the benefits of better time management and the wonders of advertising and marketing. I humbly believe my objective was met. I also appreciate and acknowledge all of your comments and thank you and DJ for giving me this opportunity to air my comments. May I also thank you for your time and all your considerations. ...and if I may, better put one of these, just in case. I wouldn't knowingly, ever want to offend anyone. <<<<<(((((This is your thread hijack release notification.
