Hi, I'm a noob. I have Premiere Elements and PowerDirector. PowerDirector has a wonderful ability to automatically detect and correct the redeye effect within its editor. (The demon redeye is all too common in photos of my blue-eyed family.) I cannot find such support in Premiere Elements. Does Elements have such a magic fixer? Does Premiere Pro?

Are you using pictures from a camera or movie clips from a camcorder? IIRC, Premiere (Elements & Pro) don't come with specific functions that remove red eye from stills. You could probably do it with colour correction type effects but, it would take a bit of work! Red Eye from still is more the kind of functionality that comes with Photoshop (Pro & Elements) which both have extremely good functions to remove red eye and other unwanted things. Adobe has a pretty good site for detailling how to remove red eye by product which is here http://www.adobe.com/designcenter/popular_topics/redeye/ but, as you will see, there is nothing from Premiere. If you are using photos, I would strongly suggest buying Photoshop Elements....it's very powerful and a bargin considering it's cheap price. Mark (in reply to wickedtoenails) |

Thanks for the response and welcome. I do have an older version of Photoshop (v7). It doesn't have anything built-in for redeye removal, though. I followed your link and found tutorials on how to do it. The ones for my version of photoshop require 7-10 steps. <groan> Some googling also yielded free photoshop "actions" for download. They're pretty good -- but still require you to lasso each eye. FWIW, many free photoshop actions are available here: http://www.atncentral.com/ < Message edited by wickedtoenails -- 5/1/2008 6:40:51 PM > (in reply to CrunchieBite) |
