1st of hey everyone been lurkin 4 evvvvver and it finally happened I need help. Up until now all the work I've beeb doing has been straight to web or dvd, but someone wants me to do a commercial for them to be aired on one of our local stations. So my question is or if anyone can point me in the right direction as to where to start my search. I know I need a special type of tape to turn into the station for the commercial to be broadcasted "betacam"  I think.  Where can I start my research I tried the usual search sites but wasn't to succesfull hopefully one of you video pros can assist a newbie in what the device is called and where to purchase one thanks in advance

I would imagine that the cable station would be able to convert a MiniDV tape for you...even if it meant driving your tape and a MiniDV deck out to the station. Betacam SP decks are pricey...and would not be worth the investment if you are not going to be producing lots of spots.

Here is a link to the Betacam SP decks at B&H.

If you really need one, I would look into purchasing a used product.

Almost every station can take mini dv I've never ran into one that can't. They prefer beta, it's better quality, but they will air mini DV.

You can go to almost any video place and get a transfer to beta, for a 30 sec ad it should be less than $20. The station may even be able to do the transfer if you decide to do it.
