Hello, First timer here. Im using Final Cut Pro 5.0.4 on a g5 Mac. I am the in house advertising director for an automotive dealership and have started learning final cut so that I can do more or our TV advertising in house. I normally handle all the print work, but I enjoy video editing and feel like I can create more effective commercials for our broadcast advertising. My experience with nonlinear is mostly with imovie, but I have managed to get one commercial out the door for one of our new car departments. Using a premade ad, final cut, typestyler and photoshop I was able to get a decent looking 30 second commercial out the door. All I had to do was add a dealer tag, a text overlay with a APR offer and make sure it was broadcast quality and format... ok that was easy, now lets step it up. I want to take over our ads for another department. So I want to use stock footage of our cars and add "motion elements" to dress up price offers and really make this add sizzle. I want fire burning sale prices, and exploding deals. Ya, its a car ad!!!! I promise not to run it too early in your market. Can you suggest a tutorial or place to get started adding motion elements onto my existing footage in Final Cut Pro? Also suggest the packages that might be of most use to me. Smoke, Fire... the corresponding sound files? Remember I am a final cut novice and have never used any juice products before. Thanks, Lincoln |

Lincoln, Welcome to Digital Juice Forums! I don't think there is quite a training tutorial on the site to show you how to use MDEs on FCP. However, these would be a good place to start: http://www.digitaljuice.com/dj_training/detail.asp?sid=230 -> Using MDEs with the Jucier http://www.digitaljuice.com/dj_training/detail.asp?sid=237 -> Using Swipes in FCP http://www.digitaljuice.com/djtv/segment_detail.asp?sid=156 - > MDE Jubilee -> (one of my favorites, just general ideas and examples on MDE usage) Hope this helps Welcome again Jose (in reply to lincoln) |

I would forget doing this in FCP. Do it in Apple Motion and then import your file into FCP for final placement. I assume by the version number you placed for FCP that you have studio?
