Hi, I am using the latest Juicer 2 to render my jumpbacks to AVI and for some reason, Premier Pro will not play them back in the program window or display them when I scrub the timeline. I just get a black screen. They play in the project thumbnail window and in the monitor preview window fine. I have made sure that Premier is set to play back to the desktop only. I am rendering them at 720x480, 29.97, lower, full frame (uncompressed). My project is a standard DV NTSC 48 Khz project. These work fine in Premier 6.5. Have I not read the manual far enough? Thanks, Dave |

I think you want to be using a DV codec and not uncompressed..otherwise Premiere probably needs to render the jump back to dv before it can play back in real time.

Thanks David. I thought that might be an issue but there is no DV codec in the list when I pull up the video compression dialog. When I use premier to export to a movie, the Microsoft DV codec is an option there. I wondering how to get the MS DV codec. Dave (in reply to ddrolett) |

The Microsoft DV codec is a strange bird.. it is a Windows Media/DirectShow codec as opposed to Video for Windows. Right now Juicer only supports Video for Windows codecs. I would suggest taking a look at the MainConcept DV codec over at http://www.mainconcept.com/products.shtml . The MainConcept DV codec is one of the best available and is MUCH better than the Microsoft DV codec. They have a demo version available and if it works for you the $49 for the unlocked version is well worth it. (in reply to ddrolett) |

I have not found any way to get an AVI created by Juicer to work with PPro. I does not display even when I render the timeline to a movie, all I get is black. However, I did find out that an image sequence of un-compressed TIFF does work although it' s a bit more CPU intensive for PPro, but it does work. In 6.5, I never had to worry about Juicer settings when generating AVI' s. I' ll have to ask the Premier folks. Dave (in reply to ddrolett) |

I think we are expecting a copy in from Adobe soon so we should have solid answers next week.

I did a conversion with Canopus procoder and now it works fine. Just sucks that i have to go thru that process for it to work.

I found out if I right-click on the footage in the timeline and choose ' Interpret footage' and then choose ' Ignore Alpha channel' , it plays fine. I guess PPro can' t handle the AVI with the Alpha channel. Thanks to the guys over at Creative Cow for the answer. Dave (in reply to ddrolett) |

Our Full Framed Uncompressed AVIs rendered from JumpBacks and ETK' s Backgrounds or Templates contain an alpha channel with no data. That alpha is covering the graphic with black. To remove the alpha do the following: 1) Import the AVI 2) Right-click and select " Interpet Footage" 3) Check " Ignore Alpha Channel" We are working on a fix for this in the next release of the Juicer.
