Well it is nice to see the original Christmas ETK items come back with HD versions. The price is great too, but I'm not sure I'll bite since I don't do HD yet and there is so many other fresh items coming out.

When I get home I'll have to compare the items closer to see and maybe use that coupon I've been holding. Anyone that can quickly list the differences, other than HD, would save some time for the rest of us.

Just the addition of juiceDROPS is worth well over $14.95

Some of them look really nice - I might have to see if I can do something - At least one or two at these prices.  I also have a coupon code laying around somewhere.....

That is exactly my thought. I am thinking of buying the 8 pak deal and noticed a bonus offer of a FREE editor toolkit pro. I have all of the toolkits, can I have a coupon for future toolkit instead?

Great products!

Yeah, I came here looking to see if someone had already listed the new things in each Christmas theme kit compared to the old Christmas ETK, too. :)

The price seems good, but I'm closing the lid and saying "NO DEAL" on this offering. I love what DJ does, but really need to see some serious JuiceDrop packages before I buy any kind of ThemeKit. I am trying to stay current on ETKpros, but am starting to question the cost when all I can really use at this time are the JDrops in the packages. I can't help but feel some disppointment in how few JDrop packages have been offered this year. I realize that there have been some exciting new products introduced, but am worried that D/J is forgetting the mainstay of their offerings to the print-oriented community. Just my thoughts.

While they are very much like an HD updated version of the old Christmas ETK, I like the fact that you can just get the sets you like (especially at $15 each).

It would be nice, however,  to see a special deal on all seven (or even have them packaged as a Christmas ETK Pro).

For those of us who don't have the old Christmas ETK, these Themekits are great!  I love them.  Can't wait for the holidays so I can find some fun ways to use them.

These are a terrific value and look absolutely wonderful.  I'm sure I'll be able to make at least 3-5K in incremental sales by integrating them into upcoming holiday special video promos for my sites.  Just bought all 7 without a second thought.   Thanks Dave and crew for producing great content like this.   The $15 a bundle is a no-brainer price, they're easily worth $49+ each.   Thanks guys.

p.s. waiting patiently for those FONTS... :)

I just did a cursory look at them to compare, and I think that DJ has used the old Christmas ETK, added the matching Juice Drop (I'm pretty sure each of those JDs are in the old Christmas JD - every one I've ever needed was) ... added the HD to it.

I think the new Christmas Theme Kits are pretty much the BEST of the old Christmas ETK ... PLUS they include the JD (which can't be purchased anymore) and the HD ... to take you into the future.

The snowflake one is going to be the backdrop for the Christmas Luncheon our ladies do each year. :)  We used a couple of the gifts ones last year, they were a huge hit.

There's a couple backgrounds, overlays and I think even a lower third in a beautiful white and gold flourish pattern in the falling presents set that are VERY flexible. Don't overlook non-Christmas uses for those.

I used this set extensively last Christmas and it really made a hit with the various High Schools that I work with in video taping their choir and band Christmas Concerts. I was a little disappointed to see that these Theme Kits were just re-issues of the old Editor's Toolkit, though. When it comes to Christmas, you simply can't get enough variety for Christmas events, promotions and church activities.

I for one LOVE some of these Xmas Themekits.  I don't have the original Xmas ETK though.  I would love to own all of these but had to settle for picking up just 2 at this great price.

The benefits:
- Probably really cheap for DJ to produce, since the elements already existed.
- HD objects provided for original ETK content
- The ability to purchase the original content again from ETKs and JDs.
- Low price for those that need them.

The negatives:
- Nothing really new, other than the HD content for those of us still doing SD.
- Waters down the thought of the ETKs being retired, but I never really understood the whole retiring forever thing anyway.
- No ETK Pro Mega Library with all the sets
- No incentive offered to owners of the original ETK and Christmas JD. Not that $15 isn't dirt cheap anyway, just stating.

Suggestion:
- How about putting together a set of discs, without the fancy packaging, or a download option that only has the HD content on it for all 7 of these and offer it to existing owners for $39.95. That is assuming of course that all the SD animations are exactly as they were in the original ETKs and not different variations of the same.

It is good to see that the original items come back with HD stuff, as they are still great and now have new life. I look forward to seeing how you do this with other content as there certainly is a lot of possibilities there.

yes, one major note, is that the ETK Christmas library sold out and is no longer available...soooooo, anyone needing Christmas items should grab this up...and it's a good price too.

Nice summary Marc with the Benefits/Negatives & Suggestion.

At approx € 10 per volume, for the HD version, it's a bit of a no-brainer, for me.
So I will be calling on Bill (my credit card's name) and getting his people to get in touch with their people!

Oh yeah, and not forgetting FedUp's slice of the pie.

TK's " The Collector" is going to haunt alot of us !!!!

Yes, I think for my version of "The Collector", he needs to add some jail cell bars....something to keep me away from my credit cards, which happen to be just out of reach from the jail cell.....

Nice to see the Christmas themes back out for all who need them.  They are very nicely presented and the price is JUST RIGHT - it really doesn't get much better than that!  Also liked the variety of animated fonts and colors used is very nice....  However, I would also like to see some more religious images included... some shepherds, wise men, etc.

I agree with you Deb on the "Falling Presents"-  that was a really nice set; however, I really liked the swirling star ornaments in "Red Gifts" - never noticed them in Christmas ETK....

another plus is that it's great for new wide-format videos, eg before I had to crop them top/bottom to be able to
produce widescreen/hd types of looks, now it's pre-made, which will save a lot of time, for internet video promo spots
that are in wide format, which I do ... so it's well worth adding, especially at 15/volume...

-k

p.s. looking forward to those Fonts... :p

Another plus is that some of the Swipes in these new THKs are Double Alpha. Text MDEs are also larger in resolution (HD) were the ones in ETK-9 were SD.

Also, I have to respectfully disagree with Marc that these new HTKs were "probably really cheap to produce". Simply put, cheap things are seldom good And these animations are real good.

It is my opinion that it was not just a re-render of old projects and animations.

There had to be a lot of checking, double checking and re-doing to make them HD.

The thing I will miss the most going to the Editor's Themekit format from ETK 9 is the write-on titles from set 221 that didn't make it to the Glass Tree set. It looks like the only thing that didn't make it.

Juice Thinking:

* Christmas sets were some of our best ever and we didn't want to have those go away forever so we made them into themekits for the long haul which meant rerendering and in some cases reworking the scene to stand up to the higher resolution.  The work involved was probably 65% the work involved in the original creation but that still adds up to a lot of work.

* I think the price is more than fair as it is with all our products.

Hi Dave -

Just to say I agree - the prices are more than fair - Just would have liked them groups like the old ETK's in one set - I'll be ordering a few Monday (after my credit card cycle closes).  Gotta have some of these in HD!

At first I was disappointed to see that they were the same sets as in the old Toolkit, but I've just started getting in to HD, so I bought them all. At that price, you can't go wrong. It would have been more exciting to see brand new HD sets, but this was still well worth buying. I'm sure it was a lot easier to get these out in time for Christmas than to make a bunch of new sets from scratch.
