Looks like the DJ team outdid themselves with this new release; and at a lot lower price point than
I'd expected, too -- thanks guys!

Just placed my order..:

Great promo video trailer, professionally done w/secrets theme and more.  Looks like a practical product, too.
Thanks for the training video tuts, too.   A+++

To video profits,

Ken

We always shoot more than we need, and pick the best shots for product.
But I would not rule out another volume with new and different categories...

Well I hope you sell 500 of them quick, that'll help assure a second volume I'm sure. You all did an awesome job with these and I have a 1,00 ways I'm going to use them next week! OK maybe not 1,000 in one week, but you know what I mean... Hey whateve happened to the Green screen people toolkit? Any luck that will still happen?

Some of the original green screen project (That never came out) was used in the promo, the fitness woman was part of that project.

It'd be nice to make that a CTK. Was there issues with it or not enough interest?

I'll have mine tomorrow.  Trying to watch the training videos now. Where is a good place to ask a question about the training video. i.e. I would like to know the effect used to create the speeding running man. Since he is his own layer I would guess you could do it with just a motion blur and speeding up the clip but I'm wondering if there is a filter just for that effect...

There were issues with the camera we had chosen for the green screen project and we just didn't like the quality/resolution we got out of it.    Now we have the RED which is better for that kind of work (i think) so it will probably be looked at again.

There's a few options for this type of effect, and I not sure exactly how it was done here - as you mention, speeding up and blurring could work - you may also wanna experiment with the "Time" effects in After FX... "CC Time Blend", "Echo", etc.

And for my second Creative Cow link for the day... you may like to check this out...

Blend & Bend Time

And check out the AE Help Files on these FX...

Echo Effect Help File

Would be interesting to know how it was done in the 'Training' clip.

Have fun! TK

I used the old "The Ring" trick. We shot the runner moving very slowly and then sped him up. Then I added motion blur, frame blending and echo.

For anyone who wants to do that creepy weird walking effect that you see in horror movies all you do is shoot between 2 - 6 FPS and have your talent act out his or her moves very very slowly. Then you speed the footage up and you have a very creepy effect...

Hey Sean, I thought it was you that did the tutorials but I did not see or hear your name mentioned. Thanks for the inside tip on this, I've missed all the tutorials on this site and your AE ones were the ones where I decided I HAD to learn AE to be a better editor.

Thanks again TK, I have to go set up a pop 3 account for a friend then I'm going to look at these.

Tony

Way to up the ante again, DJ. The CTK is top shelf stuff. (So Damon, you need to build another shelf, on top of the others)

There is nothing out there like this - not at this quality - not at 2K rez - not at this price.

You have created a product that is useful to ILM-level effects guys at a price affordable to hobbyists making youtube wizard battles in their garages.

Really good stuff. I like the way you guys think.

It's great to see that CTK in the juicer has 3 different "speed settings" -- *thanks!* DJ for this innovation, it's a superb idea.  Also good for production thought-starters, eg using a time velocity envelope in my NLE to get the various speeds; this is a great way to preview the clips at multiple speeds.  Very professional job, guys - thanks!
A++++

Ken,

In most cases you will get the best results using the slowest speed settings in Juicer - this is a 1:1 frame rate and will ensure you get all the frames of the video.  Then in your NLE or compositing software, you can speed ramp the footage up and down with best results.

right - good point re the framerate, thanks...

Also - hey Dave if you guys "pulled out the big gun" and used that fancy camera to shoot this with, if memory serves, something called "Red" or whatever... that should be part of the salesletter/story, for boosting sales, as it's the kind of thing we'd all like to hear about... I remember it cost a bundle to rent/use.. if that's the case, might make for some interesting reading, plus competitive USP/differentiation for the product vs what's out there...?

Ordered mine over the weekend can’t wait to use it. Did a shoot for a client last night and I think I will be able to blow them away with the opening  I will be creating with this new product. Thanks DJ for the smart move of offering tutorials. This is a big help in getting the wheels moving and expanding on the samples. Way to go.

Ken,

It was actually the Phantom camera.  Costs around $250k just for the camera without lenses and shoots close to 1000 fps.

Thanks Marc - that was the one... would be great 'backstory' to help sell/tell the story of how the product was created, adds to quality perception.  Wow $250K.  I could buy a house here in Colorado for that.. :p

This set looks AWESOME!!! Looks like I missed the first 500 deal, but it really doesn't matter, b/c I am on a tight budget these days anyway... hopefully, at Christmas there will be a 12 Deals push again, and I will be able to get some gifts for myself!!!!
