I wanted to get some opinions about the benefits of updating form PP CS3 to CS4. I did notice on one the the DJ tutorials that opacity controls now include blending modes. This is handy. Are there other significant differences? Many Thanks. Jeff Deuitch Impact Video Graphx Palmetto, Fl |

All adjustments layers can be added as non destructive adjustment layers which can be modified later. So you can add a curves adjustment layer for example and decide later to re-edit the curve and do this on the layer no problem. Great feature, works for all adjustments. The content aware scale, when it works if phenomenal. you really need to bring the right picture to the table but i have gotten some fantastic results out of it. is this all worth the cost of an upgrade, maybe? but i upgraded my entire master collection, and id say all-in-all, the small updates in each peice of software are worth it

Jeff, thanks for posting this question. Great timing as I've recently been debating this exact issue. Jason, thanks for your reply. I currently own the CS3 Production Suite, and have been debating on upgrading to the CS4 Master Suite. I'm terrible at html so I'm afraid of Dreamweaver, but I really wouldn't mind the entire package. So in your opinion, it's worth doing the entire upgrade? (For me, it'll be around $1,200 I think. Ouch, but I do use the software a fair bit even though I'm only a hobbyist.) I was debating on waiting until next year (or whenever) for CS5 to come out. _____________________________ Eric (in reply to playanumber99) |

the waiting until the next version comes out is a slippery slope, heres why. firstly, you can say the next thing when cs5 comes out, oh ill wait until cs6. But what you have to realize is the earlier you buy the upgrade the GREATER the value is of the software. Reason being, the upgrade price hasnt come down over the past few months. I have had the software for a few months already. that means the total number of days I will use it before cs5 comes out will be greater than someone who buys it today. therefore, i got the software at a lower cost per day. This is my way of thinking, certainly not the only way. Could I have lived without cs4, maybe. But I certainly use the newest features on a day to day basis. _____________________________ Jason Aron --- My Juice - Click Here Photography, Web Design - Click Here My Music Site (New Songs Posted) (in reply to kauai) |

Yes , thanks. I guess the crux of my question was if someone could detail what the additional features are in the CS4 version over the CS3 version. Thanks again for all the help. Jeff (in reply to playanumber99) |
