With the whole DVD label issue resurfacing, I thought I would bring back another oldie but goodie:  Packaging.

I recently purchased a couple of DVD storage books and started transitioning from the original packaging to the storage books.  Right now, I plan on keeping larger original packaging (e.g. old ETKs, SFX volumes, etc.), but all the individual volume product lines will be making their way to storage books including bundled Toolbox volumes.  I may eventually transition the other multi disc products too.  I'm ready for just simply shipping product in white envelopes.  More focus on the quality of the disc itself and even less on the external packaging.  That's my vote anyway.

Gee, and I just built that humongous shelf to hold all my DJ stuff.

I bought a case that holds 600 DVDs in hanging sleeves from meritline and it works much better than the large wallets/binders for storing the dvds. They are very reasonably priced and work well if you don't need to carry your juice with you. They do have handles, but I'm not so sure they would hold up very long when fully loaded, but I could be wrong.

I bought a couple of wood DVD storage cases off of EBay, stained them to match the furniture in my office and have them stacked on my desk next to my computer.  Somehow it helps to glance over at the titles of the various Juice items to remind myself of what I have.  I also have a binder with a summary listing of what I own that I can grab and take with me if needed.  This is also a good way to keep track of the downloaded media I have.

I do have to admit though, there is quite a variation in the packaging of the DJ products I have purchased in just the last couple of years.  Some (maybe most) of it is very professionally packaged while some is not quite as nice.

Yeah, the "super-sized" VTX HD, MD Toolkit and PKO packaging ruined the symmetry of my shelf!

I have one of those 600 sleeve boxes for my video games. Very handy and easy to reorganize when new items come in (I have them alphabetized).

For my DJ stuff - I have all my Stacktraxx in CD drawers on my desk. Juice Drops are in a zippered 3-ring binder so I can take them with me, and of course my Fonts are all installed on my HD. Other products (VideoTraxx, CTK, and a bunch of other stuff) are on two wall shelves above my desk - though I am out of space and will need to do something else with those very soon.

What I'd really like to do is make ISO for each disk on some HD and put all the products in the closet. I wish all the products would just have the ability to install to the HD - after all we are paying for the licence to use the product not for the disc or packaging.
