Digital Juice questions:

I am a novice at Vegas platinum 8 and digital juice.
I just bought the march Editors Toolkit Pro singles special.

The questions I asked when purchasing the specials, were that the files would just drop
into Vegas timeline. I didn't want to learn anything, watch anything, load anything, buy anything,
read anything, or do anything else. "OH YES this is for you".
The second question was ..could I change the basic colours in the files... "Oh YES..."

Well here I am at the forum... begging for help!! :-)

I did figure out ,eventually, how to make the transparent files work, just dropping a file into the
time line and changing the media... stuff.. have not seen anything about the colours yet,
but here are probably some basic questions.

Hope someone will help.
1. What is the difference in the files that are _IN and _OT:  _LP, I realized, are longer.
which is what I wanted.
2. Where would you use a lower third file that is only one second long (_IN & _OT).
3. what is the difference between loading a file from the disk, or rendering it from juicer.
4. what good is it to load the CD into juicer when you still have to insert the CD in order to render it
5. how can I change the default output directory of the rendered file.

Thanks for looking at this post.
Arthur......

Arthur -

As a rule, I almost always use the Juicer to modify my Juice (like colors) - Dave & Co have gone to great lengths to make it a very powerful tool.  Of course the are others on these forums who use the files on disk natively and manipulate them in other apps.

2) Any of the DJ elements (backgrounds, overlays, lower thirds, etc...) can be easily stretched in Vegas to exact lengths - Just drop the asset on the timeline and drag either the right or left side of it until it is the length required.  Note, by holding the ctrl key down while dragging, you can speed up or slow down the animation (up to a point, after which you'll need to add a velocity envelope).

5) In the Juicer, at the top of each section you'll notice a right facing triangle (play button) - Click on it and you'll see options about making your settings defaults.

Thanks for your reply birdcat.

Yes, I knew about dragging the asset to extend it, but the effect came in and out instead of a smooth one time effect (I wonder if I expained this clearly). I had forgotten about the contorl drag, which extended the asset from one second to 4 seconds... now I'll have to learn about the velocity envelope.

So I can change the colours of any editors toolkit pro singles in the juicer... I'll look for that.

I could not find the right facing button that would change the default directory for saving rendered files. I can change each render individually but I can't change the default directory.

Thanks again.

Take a look at the graphic - The area you are concerned with is highlighted.

And to change the colors, click on the FX button just above the highlighted area.

Thanks again birdcat... I got it!! I can definitly see the advantage of rendering a file from juicer and not the CD.

BTW which one  is you in the photo.
