I'm having difficulty in creating simple matte key in Xpress Pro. The effects manual describes video and matte key effect placement for V1,V2, and V3 but it's not working for me. Backround will not appear. I need to know if there is something in the way I output juicer media (eg, as straight QT without alpha or something else I'm missing)? There used to be a tutorials on the DJ site that used to show examples of how to use DJ material for AVID. Is it still around or can someone direct me to some other sites (other than creative cow or genius dv) that show actual screen shots of the procedure? Thanks!

Check out the DJTV Tutorial on using MDTK with Avid for some pointers. Kevin discusses the Output Module around 2:30 and use with Avid at 12:45. Using MDTK Directly in your Editor Or a good resource might also be the Avid Community: How to do a simple Matte Key _____________________________ Jeff Earley Director Digital Juice Audio Products (in reply to CMI) |

Thanks Jeff for your response>. I reviewed the DJ tutorial and it was very helpful, although a little advanced(in term of the number of elements used) of what I would consider a "simple" matte key exercise. Placed backround on V1, foreground on V2, expanded V2 track, then placed title fill stencil on the v3 alpha matte track of V2, added matte key effect and tweaked settings in effects editor. It worked, but not sure if I'm taking the long way around. I'll continue to research until I can do it like second nature. Must apologize for posting to the Avid liquid site in error(late night study session); but really appreciate the help!!
