I noticed on the Canvasses product page (http://www.digitaljuice.com/products/products.asp?pid=1805), there is a visual index for the various backgrounds. I have not checked the other print product pages like TextureToolkit ,JuiceDrops, PhotoKnockouts and GraphicDesigner'sToolkit whether they have visual indexes or not.
It would be nice to have such an index especially with the TextureToolkit since there are so many to sort through. A quick look at a printed index (like in the original Editor's Toolkits) makes life SO much easier when picking the right texture, background, etc. for a potential project.

I concur with you, Alan. I'd like a PDF as well. If anything, it can be an easy reference for a client or for us to jot down a note on where we used the art in the past.

Me as well! That would help SO much. I fully agree about the Texture Toolkit having one. And I agree with Dean about it being in pdf. I find the juicer can sometimes be slow at showing the previews so having these other options would be nice.

I also wish I could see a larger preview of each texture within the juicer when I click them. Similar to how the MDT has the little preview window at the top. But that might just be a user error thing. It may be an option I need to fix.

I always hate having to open the Juicer just to see the images.

I do my own previews folder for them - then use thumbnail view for the folder and increase the size of my thumbnails in Finder/Explorer. Usually I use the DJ smallish previews right off the DVDs, they're about 600px or so.

Doesn't help with keyword searching, but a visual search is usually all I want...

I've always thought a visual reference of all DJ print products would be extremely useful.

I would very much appreciate similar .pdf references, as recently offered with Canvasses.

I am therefore adding the 'Merch stamp of approval' for future, similar considerations.

Oh and Canvasses - another great product Dave et al.

Merch....I concur! That is what I appreciated about the original ETKs. The booklet that came with them made finding the perfect background, photo, etc. was awesome and very convenient.
I thought of making-up my own but the time involved would take me from other more pressing and profitable tasks.

YES !!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE; DAVID HEBEL ; read this and I hope you can say YES !

I have asked about this before and nobody answered me at DJ about this index of DJ product content.

I would be REALLY A HUGE AND VERY USEFUL THING to have a PDF file with the contents of each DJ product.

It would be MUCH BETTER AND EASIER to use and search through the available DJ products, and make a choice of what to use and what would be better to match similar things.

Many other companies give you a clearly indexed PDF file with thumbnails of all the content in full color and is very useful and lovely to have it, and even I have found some companies from Taiwan and Hong Kong that they sell their products with printed color visulal indexes of all the contents and they are not more expensive because of this.

I will not ask to have a printed index, BUT it would be really useful to have at least a PDF file for each of the DJ products.

VISUAL INDEX ALREADY MADE ON THE WEBSITE

DJ have already made a visual index for each of the DJ products organized in topics and thumbnails, so it would be jus to copy all the beautiful and excellent preview thumbnails and category index from the website to a downloadable PDF file for each product.

ALTERNATIVE FOR DJ MAKING AN INDEX, MAKE IT OURSELVES WITH JUICER

It would be much better that DJ makes the visual indexes, but if it would not be possible for the time, they could probably modify the Juicer software so that when installing a new product you could print (or make a digital print file ) for all the thumbnails contained in this product.

I finally have solved the mystery of WHY there is a ONLY a visual index downloadable in the Canvases product.

Why have DJ taken the time to make a very good Visual Index of the product when DJ have cared and did not want and have NOT DONE any other VISUAL INDEX before ?

IT IS ONLY BECAUSE CANVASES IS NOT SUPPORTED IN JUICER

quote:

ORIGINAL: David Hebel

No there is no activation keys at present for Canvases since it's not currently supported in Juicer.

WHY VISUAL INDEX PDF ONLY ON THIS PRODUCT ?

Now after David have said that this is not supported in Juicer I understand a very important thing that I was wondering and did not why it happened.

I already was happy and illusioned in that DJ could ever care about us and be able to make finally a downloadable Visual Index of the products as many other companies already do.

Well, Silly of me have been thinking that this was the great beginning of DJ making Visual Indexes for products, AND THIS IS ONLY because it is not supported by Juicer.

After knowing the reason WHY the Visual Index has been included in Canvases, I think that DJ will NOT CARE AND WILL NOT make any other Visual Index for any other product unless it will not be supported by Juicer, which is a thing really very strange.

While I doubt we would do a printed index for every product as we try to keep our prices very aggressive, I do think we could consider a PDF on the site. Every little thing we add though slows us down so we have to consider everything carefully. But PDF is probably "do-able".

A better option in future would probably be a PDF generator in Juicer 4 that would allow even old products to be quickly printed into a visual index. This would give more choice to user on size of thumbs.

First, thanks very much for taking the time to answer.

Yes, it is true and that´s why I have not been asking for a printed index for every produvt as it would involved a higher cost and more packing time, so is not a viable solution.

You are the expert and know how to do it ,and I do not have any idea of DJ workflow, but I do not think that it would take so much time to make an visual index of the new products. You are already making the thumbnails and previews for the website so you already have the source for making the visual index, yes probably on products that have 1000 products could take some time, but I think that this would be beneficial for users and will be able to use the DJ products in a better and easier way.

If you take the effort of making the visual indexes I think it will be very welcome

YES !!!! This would be really fantastic and a great way to be able to make visual indexes of all the old, past and previous products, as I do not think you will make any indexes of older products, so you could let us make them.

AND is also very good that you could CHOOSE THE SIZE OF THUMBNAILS, because in some PDF files I have seen are really small and tiny and can´t really see much of the real thing.

VISUAL INDEX IN PDF OR ANY OTHER FORMAT

It has been said before that it sould be in PDF files, but if you have any problem with making PDF files, you could make the visual indexes in any format that could be more convenient and better for DJ

Thanks again for the news and we will be waiting for this to happen soon, and hope that is not very far in the future.

Some kind of visual index that allows us to show samples to the customer without exposing what our tools are is a great idea.  The juicer created PDF is a good idea... don't forget a "select all" option for those that really want a paper catalog.

I agree that you need NOT print the index, but allow customers to download and print one. I would find it useful in that I could easily note with a pen where I used a visual... or dogear a page for quick, easy, non-techy reference. Or hand it to my customer to tell me what THEY like without showing them where they can go and buy direct, thereby putting ME outta business. (So be sure to put DJ reference in headers and footers so I can cut em off!)

Heck, I may even keep copies in the bathroom for creative reviews, allowing me to charge for that time as well.

Claudio is correct in that it shouldn't take a major effort to collect the visuals into a reference PDF for projects. It may slow down some development... if so, take a 10-man team off those video animations that I can't and don't use so as not to slow down development of my new print resources!

; )

Thanks again Dave for "LISTENING" to your customers when there are suggestions to help us use DJ's products more effectively...believe me, that kind of interaction goes a long way for not only customer satisfaction, but also with company / customer good-will.

A PDF is more than adequate and usable. Thanks for considering it Dave, we appreciate it.

I've officially added it to our "Feature Ideas" list which is actually quite small so there is a good chance we would add it.

I totally agree with Videogog and is right that I thank you too for listening and agree to make something that will help very much to the customers and could be anle to use the DJ products in a much better way and get the most of them, but also will help DJ company that listen to the customer and good will to help.

As said before, a printed is NOT needed, a PDF is perfect and usable.

YES, I have snagit software and have tried to make screen captures of DJ products previews but is not the same and is boring and tiresme and the quality is not good and is also difficult to print because the reviews does not fit well and is not easy to get a good index of the DJ products in this way.

The much better way would be that Juicer could have a feature to be able to make index of the installed products you choose and/or export PNG files with the previews of the products

instead of waiting for the Juicer solution I think I have found a solution that could work NOW and is already available for most DJ Products (not music or sound)and is by using Adobe Bridge, Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Photoshop Elements, ACDSee Pro or any other software that can make contact sheet previews thumbnails and then arrange them in a sheet of paper and print it.

I will make some tests and see what is the better way to do it and which software would be better, faster and easier to use for building a visual index.

quote:

Although this is an alternative solution, PLEASE DAVID HEBEL KEEP ON DEVELOPING THE JUICER FEATURE FOR MAKING VISUAL INDEX AND OUPUT THEM AS PDF AS YOU SAID. Thanks very much

I ditto this! I admire someone who does "creative reviews" in the bathroom and has found a way to charge his clients!

NOW it´s has been already 6 month since the 15 July 2011 when David put this.

Please, Please, Please, is there any news, that the "PDF Generator" is still in development for Juicer 4 (or whatever) and will be released this year ? I hope soon.

I have LOTS of Digital Juice products and although Juicer is very good in catalog all the Products I find it very hard to remember where was something I want, and have to search for it in many products and menus.

IT WOULD BE MUCH EASIER AND FASTER if I could have a PDF with the contents of each Product I have so I could see it much easier and even I could print it and could see MANY pages at the SAME TIME, and compare products, something you CAN´T DO in juicer

I just posted a "request' for this in General topics as well as I really like the PDF's. Unfortunately if we have to wait for J4, it may be a while. Anyone solve this themselves?

How about they do as advertised? You know the conditions we were told when we bought the sets? I guess once you get told the same crap over and over at some point you realize it isn't going to happen so you start to settle for something less, anything resembling an index.

How about they make Juicer do as advertised or change the web site to the truth? Something like some products may work in Juicer and others we just didn't feel like adding it in.

quote:

The Juicer is a free media management and conversion utility that supports all current Digital Juice products including all animation, sound effects/music, film/video clips and still graphics. The Juicer lets you browse, preview, search and sort the tens of thousands of clips that make up the Digital Juice media library and then copies and converts those files into formats that are compatible with your editing software.
