Hey guys, I know its a bit off topic but I wanted to ask this question on digital juice because I know you guys are the best.

I'm looking into getting a really nice(relative) camera. I plan on shooting a webseries with it, and I want to be able to shoot as close to TV quality as I can in my price range. I really like DSLRs though I'd be ok with a video camera. I definitely want 1080p24 and its not required but I would also like to have the option of shooting 1080p60 for slow motion. So far my favorite camera has been the Sony-A77 DSLR which has those options, however I noticed the bit rate was a bit low on the 60p video, so I'm hesitant on the quality. I haven't been able to find any really nice test footage that can play correctly from online.

Has anyone tested this camera? Is there a better camera in the $2500 price range? If anyone has this, could you show me some of your test footage at 60p(playback at 24 or 30fps).

Thanks for your help :)

Really take a look the Panasonic Lumix GH2, as it is a great little camera and you can get it right now on B&H with the stock 14-42 lens for $699 or I believe they have the kit with the 14-140 lens for $999. Take the rest of your budget and invest in some lenses for it along with some audio equipment, tripod, etc.

The GH2 will do 1080 60i not 60p, but will do 720 60p and if you apply the firmware hack, you can really jump your bitrate up to about 41Mbps and the quality is amazing. It's pretty amazing even with the stock firmware, which they just release a new version of.

For your price range, you won't get a traditional video camera that looks as good.

Thanks for the reply, after reading some reviews and comparisons im really liking this camera. I'm about to go out and see if I can find one to play with before I make a final decision.

My one concern is that compared to the T3i, it has very similar and some better specs than the GH2. The only thing the GH2 really had over the T3i was the 60i recording and some better manual controls. Its also almost $200 cheaper (plus im not planning on buying til beginning of January so the deal on BH will be over by then). Any experience with the T3i?
