I feel like a clown, but I'm stuck at square 1. Using Ready 2 Go 4, if, in DJ3, I collect files on ROLL FILM, for example, I'm shown a Vegas exe file (127_RollFilm_MS_HDV30) and a folder with other exe files and mov files within it. According to the video tutorial I saw on DJ for Vegas, I open the exe file (rollfilm) that is outside the data/exe folder and that opens vegas with my project with all the video place holders in my vegas project media folder alongside the mov and text events, right. And basically, all I have to do is REPLACE the video place holders with my video and replace the sample text with my text. Right? Wrong. I have video place holders embedded into the mov clips. As such, the program is not able to be customized with my movie clips. Whereas this works flawlessly, in that they're customizable, in many of the R2G1 and R2G3 templates, it works hardly ever in R2G 4. I know I'm doing something obviously wrong, and that's why I ask you here. ALSO, When rendering a SFX file, I'm always asked for one of 9 disks. Is there no way to have those mp3 files on a disk drive to obviate having to rifle through 9 disks each time? Hopelessly newbie Attachment (1)

Hi mmish, I just happen to come across your post. We have that product too and I believe what they did on R2G 4 was to create a Vegas file made up of the other embedded Vegas files. In other words, look for other .veg files in the folders. Replace the video in those, and you will see the change reflected when you open the main file. I am not in front of my production PC right now, so I can't be more specific. It's been a while, but I seem to remember this was the only version of R2G that used this method. With the AE versions already on volume 12, I was hoping to see more available for Vegas, but maybe you and I were the only ones to actually buy them. Andrew (in reply to mmish) |

I would just love knowing: What is the identifier of the .veg file indicating that it is the one to use that has all the elements of the project within it: the open video1 video2 etc the close The sheer number of .veg files is daunting and confusing. And thanks for your response, reddog. Awesome. (in reply to Red Dog Records) |

It should be that you can just double click the embedded project from within the Project Media tab and Vegas Pro will open up another instance with the embedded project loaded for you to make changes as needed. Once you save the file, close it out (or keep it open), the changes will appear in the Master Project, as long as you save the changes in the original embedded project. And if the QUALITY of the SFX file is not an issue then you can copy the MP3 files to your HD (I believe they are encoded to a low 128bit); but there are legal reason outlined in the User Agreement why you shouldn't do that. Besides as mentioned, the mp3 format is for PREVIEWS only and do not represent the full quality of the actual source audio. _____________________________ meeooww (in reply to Red Dog Records) |
