I purchased Toxic Type and am trying to duplicate the layers and change text. Every time I change text it changes the text in ALL the layers. That is the technical side. I tried to look up this up on their "Helpful" (ya right) videos but they have NOTHING. I can't call them on the weekends. Nor can you get a decent email back on the issue. What are you to do if you are in a crunch? Can you depend on Digital Juice? It seems not...

I'd be glad to help - which Toxic Type are you working with? It would also be helpful to know how long you have worked with After Effects as well. Are you fairly new to the product or have you been working with AE for a while? Anyway - give me a shout and I'll see if I can assist. - James (in reply to roosrcool) |

I have been using AE for around 4 years and am at about a 80% proficiency. I am stumped with the Pre Comps... I am using "The Storm" I want to take the "Coming soon" and copy it and use the stars names over and over again. When I try and change the Segment02_EDIT LOGO... It keeps changing the copied layer. I copy it in the Project Panel. When I Un_Shy the 3D Layers the text layer are repeated for the 3D effect over and over again. How do I replace the text?

Try these suggestions: – Select the Composition in the timeline that you want to duplicate – Right click over the selected compostion layer in the timeline and choose “Reveal Layer Source in Project”. This will bring up the Project window and will automatically select the composition. – While having the Project window active press the “Ctrl+D” keys to create a true copy of Composition (Cmd-D on Mac). – Now Drag the new composition to the timeline and edit its text cotent within without affecting the original – Note if the new compostion has pre-comps within you need to duplicate within those each of those pre-comps using the same steps provided above. – Another option (and probably much easier with this particular project that has many, many Pre-Comps in the 3D Text) is to save a copy of the section of the project you want to multiply (give it a new name) and re-import this new complete project into AE within the original project. This would create two unique copies of all compositions in the project. Repeat the process for as many unique sections as you need. See attached screenshots. Hope this helps.
