-HDV 720p24 support - JVC
-HDV 1080p24 support - Canon
-DVCPRO HD 720p25 support - Panasonic
-XDCAM at 35mb/s - Sony
-Realtime Waveform/Vectorscopes
-Realtime MPEG IMX at 30mb/s
-Reveal Master clip fixes.
-Broadcast wave support
and a biggie

Final Cut Pro 5.1.2 supports FxPlug, an image-processing plug-in architecture developed
by Apple. FxPlug makes it possible for any plug-in developer to develop hardware-
accelerated effects using technologies such as OpenGL, CoreGraphics, and CoreImage.

this is the power of Motion as well so users with beefier video cards will notice speedier processing

some things to remember

this is for users of 5.1 or higher, you need to do the crossgrade to 5.1 FIRST http://www.apple.com/universal/crossgrade/

if you are in the middle of a project do not upgrade
if your system is rock stable and you have no need for update don't (realtime scopes are a HUGE reason to upgrade)
if you can't afford a little down time (possibly under a day to reinstal if you mess up the upgrade) don't upgrade

if it isn't majorly important but you want to update try waiting a couple of days to see if there are any major probems

I asked Graham not to give me points for stuff like this

ok sorry guys
I shouldn't have said what I did re no points
it was just that whole thing a while back about how some people only post to bump there point or post count
I don't post to bump either of my counts . . . I just do it to help out
