I just checked 2 of the boxes when I voted I also do Web programming and if the poll used radio buttons it would force you to select only one but check boxes allow for multiple responses (assuming that DJ hasn't set up things different than the norm) (in reply to wizard) |

That's cool. I set it up so you can choose more than one if you use more than one NLE. I will edit the original post so people don't get confused.

Final Cut Pro in this corner. I've always wondered why some people use two different NLE's? I'm sure they have a good reason. Kuhnen (in reply to Faroshuffle) |

Hey Kuhnen I use Vegas and it's what I'm most comfortable with. I also use Premiere in order to keep some of our clients happy. Given the amount of money they throw our way and the fact that I already stood my ground regarding choice of PC - I figured it would be best to just go with the flow on this one. To paraphrase what my boss said, "[Client name here] pays your check dumb*ss, not Alienware or Dell" . Taking the glass half full approach, knowing more applications (NLEs, imaging, audio, etc) only increases my job opportunities should I ever choose to move on from where I'm at

Hey jm Well you certainly have a need for two NLE's. That's smart. I'm not at a level yet where the client cares one way or the other... they just want results! Say, did you send the rain down here to Ashland? Its been pouring all day. Kuhnen (in reply to jmeredith) |

It's funny to see the hoops everyone jumps through when clients visit... we even swap out some of the desktops/laptops so they (the client) can see their product sitting on everyone's desk... needless to say, my lime green PC is hard to disguise P.S. I don't know where that rain came from - it absolutely poured here a couple of times today - should be gone by tomorrow though. (in reply to Kuhnen Brown) |

Hi Eric, Thanks for the Poll. Please can you Include Edius 3 and Edius 4 or Edius 3/4 as choices. Also is there any way it can be placed on the home page so people who dont use the forums much can vote ? _____________________________ Nigel DJ Products: ETK's: 1,2,4,6,8,10 JB's: 6,8,16,22,34 HD JB's: 1-12,14,15 ST's: 1,2,3,10,12,13,14,15,17,18 SoundFx VT's: 1,2,3 MDE's: 1,2,3,4,5,6,10 JD's : 46,49 (in reply to Eric Hartmann) |

no problem Nigel for the poll - and i have added the Edius option. The reason as to why I didn't put different versions for the different NLEs is because I felt that this was not a "Which NLE do you use to edit......and what version?" Just a simple "Do you use FCP or Premiere or Vegas etc."...hope thats ok... also quote: sry...I took that as "I don't want it on the front because all I want is DJ people voting..." which I thought was smart...I thought we only cared about DJ users!!!!.......oh wait........no....thats not nice......we'll see if "the powers that be" will make it happen...maybe they'll see this......

Both Vegas and Adobe in our office. I prefer Vegas, my son prefers Adobe. I think Vegas is more intuitive, but Adobe is what they're teaching him in college.

Eric, thanks for adding Edius to the option. The reason I thought it would be good on the front page is that I assumed there would be visitors to DJ Web site that perhaps dont participate in the forums but still own DJ products. Also I suppose there is no harm in a general poll for any visitor to DJ to discover which NLE is the most popular one. Hence if someone does put this Poll on the home page I think it would prove interesting, at least for people who perhaps want to change NLE like me. _____________________________ Nigel DJ Products: ETK's: 1,2,4,6,8,10 JB's: 6,8,16,22,34 HD JB's: 1-12,14,15 ST's: 1,2,3,10,12,13,14,15,17,18 SoundFx VT's: 1,2,3 MDE's: 1,2,3,4,5,6,10 JD's : 46,49 (in reply to Eric Hartmann) |

Yeah, I use three. Vegas (5), Premier Pro (7), and Final Cut (Express HD). I use Vegas at my church's youth group, I use Premier Pro at my church's main campus (our youth building and main auditorium are across the street from each other), and I use Final Cut on my associate youth pastor's Power Book (he has after effects, so if I'm doing a short animation I'll just throw it into Final Cut and add SFX or music and render it out to compress the file size a little). So... I win. (in reply to nprice) |

No Kidding. I love DPS. I was pretty unhappy about having to go to PPro when I got the HDV camera (DPS told me they wouldn't do HDV..then they did...buggers) But after some time I am coming to appreciate the functionality of Adobe products. We should get together sometime. I am about an hour away from TO. Maybe next time I am in the city we can get some lunch. Avid Liquid 7.x. Lots of reasons for more than one NLE; some do things that others won't and none do it all. _____________________________ "Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. I use Adobe Video Suite Pro. Mostly with Premiere I just capture, edit and export .avi's for use in AE. I use a Cannon XL2 for vids and a Konica Minolta D7 for stills. I want to do this for a living but haven't crossed that bridge yet. For now I do stuff for my church and some marketing for my cabinet company. www.imageevent.com/cabinetry
