Hi- I've already got a copy of Final Cut Pro version 3, but have never bothered to learn it (hey, Digital Juice didn't get crazily inexpensive until recently!). I'm getting ready to start playing with my Juice, but wondered if I should go to all the trouble of learning FCP3, or whether I should go with the newer Final Cut Express 3.5 (which presumably might have more features and ease of use). I can pick up the newer program fairly inexpensively, so my biggest question is whether one is markedly better than the other, or if the learning curve is significantly different for the two programs. For the most part, I'm planning on standard def productions (for my own entertainment, though I'd like to be working with commercial quality). For that matter, does anyone know if a newer version of FCP or FC Express is coming on the horizon soon? Thanks for any suggestions - I really appreciate your help! _____________________________ -Steve ---------------------- (4 shelves of Juice) |

well what computer are you running it on I would look at upgrading to FCS using the crossgrade offer http://www.apple.com/universal/crossgrade/ FCE is OK but it is limited (your stuck with DV or HDV) and there isn't an upgrade option anymore http://www.apple.com/finalcut/ here is a listing of the differences remember with FCS you get a TON of programs FCP Motion DVDSP Soundtrack Pro Compressor there will always be new versions FCE stuff is TRADITIONALLY released at the consumer shows like Macworld January FCS stuff is TRADITIONALLY released at the pro shows like NAB in April if there will be new versions announced or released soon nobody knows (or if they do they can't say) _____________________________ DAVE (in reply to Farley) |
