Here is what I am trying to accomplish. I want to use jumpback 029 looped several times. That is the easy part. The hard part is that I want to put a video clip into each one of the four center boxes that are revealed and then open up to reveal the next four and so on.... I can get the video to fit into the boxes and float within the box as it moves forward. But I can' t seem to find a wipe that will reveal the video or even any other way to reveal the video that looks like the clips are actually being revealed. I also want the video to stay within the box as it opens up and leaves the screen. Any sugestions? By the way, I am using XPress Pro with Mojo. I have After Effects 6.5 but am very new on it. But if there are any recommendations for either Avid only or Avid and AE I am all ears. Thanks |

I have never received an answer and have had to move on to another background. I don' t think this thread gets used or read very often. Most on here seem to be Mac users with other NLE' s. If anyone does have an idea I would still like to know for future reference. Thanks (in reply to Zacbray) |

I just read your post. Sounds like what you are trying to do is fairly basic and can be done very easily in AE. Although i' m not familiar with Avid I believe it is very similar to other NLE' s. exactly what type of transition are you looking for? Can you not place each video segment on it' s own track and adjust the opacity for example.

That isn' t really the problem. I want it to be revealed by the boxes that are opening up. Take a look at jumpback 029 and you will get a feel for the problem. the start of the animation is left alone but as the first layer of boxes opens up I want either one picture or four pictures to be revealed. If it just disolves in it is not being revealed by the opening boxes. I tried accomplishing this on the Avid but with no luck. I then tried to in AE 6.5 but have VERY LITTLE knowledge of how it works and thus could not do it. As I stated earlier I have moved on from this background but would love to do this in the future and obviously barksman is interested as well. doawah, if you know of a way to accomplish this in AE that would be great. Thanks (in reply to Zacbray) |

I took a look at the animation and see now what it is your trying to do. I dn' t think any NLE will do what you need it to do as the jumpback is not a layed file. You could make it work by using masks in after Effects and animate each mask so that it looks like it is being uncovered but that is going to be some work on your behalf, especially if you want to reveal 4 videoe shots.

That is a great idea. I am just now learning the facets of masking in AE and that would be a great test. Thanks Doawah (in reply to Zacbray) |
