Windows Media Video (WMV) is not the same as Video for Windows (AVI). WMV is a file format and codec and does not support an alpha channel.  For AVI,  pretty much  uncompressed is your only option.

Make sure you select Video for WIndows. This will produce an AVI file.  Import this file into Liquid. You will see only one file.

Post back with the results.

I haven't loaded Juicer 3 yet, but I've used a lot of DJ, revealers, etc in Liquid and I render them as .AVI with a separate alpha channel, uncompressed.  Haven't been successful with wmv or including the alpha channel.  I've used DJs as backgrounds, overlays, and lower thirds, depending on which track you put them on.  Unless I'm filling text, I haven't needed to use the matte track.

Would be interested if Juicer 3 does it differently.

I created an animated overlay today using Juicer 3. I rendered it as Video for Windows with embedded alpha. This created an AVI file. It imported into Liquid with no problems.

Jim,

I have always had to use TGA sequences with MDE's, templates, and lower thirds, but not anymore.

I just tried the new Juicer 3 with the following settings:

First, I scaled down to 85%

Field order: Lower
Alpha Type: Straight
Format: Video for windows

Rendered.

It pulled straight in the Avid Liquid 7.1 and the alpha worked like a charm.  So this is good news.

Good luck to all!!!

vbChaz - I downloaded the new version of Juicer3 (new as of 4-4-07) - and your settings worked great. First time I have been able to get an alpha avi out of DJ - always used png's B4.

Now - I took a look at the difference in file size - png's were 2. 6 MB.   Same length AVI was 197 MB.

I'm not sure it's worth the drive space to have the avi.  JMO

Weren't each png 2.6 mb in size?  Remember you needed all of them to create same thing as the single avi file.

No - each one was about 20 k - now this was a revealer I did -  I checked some other backgrounds/lower thirds that I have done - and they were in the 300-600k rnage each - so I guess a  small revealer as a png makes sense to be small file size wise and large avi file size wise - since the avi has to be full whole screen.
