Hi Kids -

I can output to MOV just fine, but when I change this setting to AVI, the machine just goes to 100% cpu and the juicer freezes (can't even cancel - have to kill the process).  I can use MOV but prefer AVI (for preview purposes).

I am running 264C.

Thanks.

Bruce

Patience.  How long is the duration of your render object and how long did you wait??

It could be as small as a swipe or as large as a video traxx piece.  It also happens on multiple machines - I have a P4 2.53GHz 512MB RAM at home and a Xeon 3.06GHz 1GB RAM at work - and it does the same on both.  I ahve left it running for an hour one time, but ususally I give up after about five minutes with nothing else running in the foreground.

Which version of quick time are you using??  Rumor has it that Juicer 3 requires a faily new version of quicktime.

Good Luck.

I see you have Boyton Beach as a "from".  I grew up in Pompano Beach and traveled up the coast to the Boyton area many times. (Circa 1962-1965)

It's also possible that it is some sort of codec/file format thing: what codec are you trying to render with (in the AVI file format)?

I too have trouble with Juicer 3 freezing up when rendering to AVI, but only on certain products. I either just end up rendering  it in Quicktime or use Juicer 2.

Its a miracle.  I just now discovered how to see which codec I am using when rendering AVI files...  It is so obvious when you know where to look.

OK - So where do you look?

On the line where you select "AVI", there is a little wrench directly to the right of the drop down arrow. Click it. A window pops up titled Video Compression. Click the drop down arrow inside the box and your currect codec is displayed.  Mine says "Full Frames (Uncompressed)". Click the drop down arrow and you get to see your other codec selections.

Good Luck.

Aside from the "Full Frames (uncompressed)" I also have:

and

Which should I be using - As a rule, I always use uncompressed when I have a choice - I don;t have a lot of system memory and processor power so I'd rather go for the larger, easier to use file.

Thanks

Bruce

I use no compression and it always works for me.

I can tell a tale on myself.  A few month ago I was ready to set fire to Juicer 3 and never use it again. Things were taking about 45 minutes to render and I was getting huge avi files.  To make a long story short, I managed to set the duration to 20 minutes instead of 20 seconds.  My gun, my bullet, my foot.  Now I double check everything I touched before I make a plea for help.

Good Luck.
