Welcome aboard.

Let's try the easy stuff first.

Open Liquid.  Click the "Q" on the  toolbar and a menu appears. The top item is labelled "High Resolution Inlay". Is it checked?  If so, turn it off.

Next open the Timeline Properties.(Toolbar on top->Timeline->Timeline Properties).
What are you settings for Current Sequence-> Fx Quality?

Have you played the avi sequence using the regular quicktime player?? If so, does it playback properly??

How much experience do you have with Liquid?  What is your video card?

I see you are running 6.5.  Do yourself a favor and upgrade. It's been two years since I used 6.5. It is old.

What color is the variable speed slice on your timeline?

I think we can get to the bottom of this.  I use stuff from all the ETK's, Jumpbacks, mde's, etc. and everything should work just fine when the settings are correct and the hardware is up to speed.

Good Luck.

(1) clicking on the "Q"  the options are:
-- Symmetric Inlay Sizes  WITH left and right toobars (this is the one checked)
-- Symmetric Inlay sizes  WITHOUT left and right toobars
-- Quarter Inlay size

(2)  FX quality was low -- I changed it to HIGH quality

(3)  it plays back okaY on QUICKTIME PLAYER

(4)  I'm intermediate with LIQUID 6.1 -- the version I now use (uhmm.. not sure of the video card -- a basic one)

(5) I tought of upgrading BUT in the avid forum so many had to GO BACK to my version due to too many bugs in upgrade

(6)  slice color is yellow

in the bottom of the timeline, as i play the slices that contains the overlay, the fps rate chages - so very quickly

PS:  i tried to render in juicer to quicktime -- but i have to close and open liquid several times for it to be able to import the .mov file

The yellow slice indicates it is not yet rendered inside of Liquid.  Look at the Sigma letter on the bottom right. Is it pulsating?

Also, put the mouse on the rectangle to the right of the sigma and give it a right button click. Make sure the render yellow slices is checked and the show render bars is checked. The top item should say Start Rendering.

Forget the .MOV files. Get Juicer 3. Use it to render your avi files.

Let me know.
