As many of you have already experienced, rendering output from Premier can be a slow and painful process. I have been producing a 60 minute weekly TV series for my church for the past three years; and since I spend three to four days per week at my studio, I am always looking for ways to save time. The following suggestion is something that you can try to dramatically reduce the time your computer spends rendering out video for DVD and other uses. I have found that the more complex the project, the more time you will save! This process also reduces the number of errors/aborts that sometimes occurs with Premier when outputing lengthy videos with lots of effects applied. First, take your completed Premier project and Export it as a Movie using the standard Microsoft DV AVI format. (I usually reboot my Windows based computer after this step as I have been editing for several hours.) Second, create a brand new Premier project, then import the above Microsoft DV AVI file as an asset. Third, add the above Microsoft DV AVI file to your timeline and perform your export! In addition I copy this file to my iMac which I use to publish podcasts, preferring to use Apple's QuickTime Pro for these rendering requirements. Most of my file exports are completed using the Adobe Media Encoder (Main Concept). The above process normally cuts my render time in half! Your results may vary. I have also eliminated those occasional aborted render attempts that sometimes occur in Premier. If any of you try this and find it helps, please let me know. Good Luck and God Bless! _____________________________ In His Service, Al DePaolo, Jr. New Life Media http://web.mac.com/innewlife/NewLifeMedia/Welcome.html |

I turn our church service into an hour-long video each week for use in other programs and on the web. Rendering it as an avi usually takes about 15-20 minutes, depending on the number of cuts and effects I have to use.

Hi: I use Matrox RT X100 which allows me to export my movie in real-time to an (MV2, I think) file. I then load this file into Encore to create my DVD. The DVD project takes about 15 to 20 minutes to burn. Total for a 2 hour DVD? About 1 1/2 hours _____________________________ Love Is: When Someone Else's Needs Mean More Than Your Own! Hey Al! Good tip! I'll pass it along to our media department. We do a five camera shoot of our Sunday morning worship services for broadcast throughout our state. I know it takes them quite some time to render from Pre Pro. I'll let you know how it works for them. Our church is New Life Church as well in New Jersey. Where are you located? Great tip, Al. I've been using a similar process for awhile now (born out of the same time-consuming frustration that you experienced.)

Thanks RichardM! Our Church is located in Meriden, CT http://www.innewlife.com. We do a three camera shoot of our Sunday morning service and produce a weekly TV series called "Life Lines". We have missed only a couple of weeks in the past 4+ years due mostly to blizzards. Currently in 34 communities in Connecticut. Our team (New Life Media) has experience with Christian concerts, seminars, and Christian Band promo shoots. Its a lot of fun but as you know very hard work. We have an awesome team of volunteers. If interested you can check out our team's web page at http://web.mac.com/innewlife/NewLifeMedia/Welcome.html We have built our own "pure digital" studio from the ground up through personal funding (our church is only 7 years old). Our church body has grown from 12 to nearly 800 people during this time frame. We just recently planted an additional church in a near by community. We are currently attempting to establish a "LIVE" video venue remote church site using Sage TV - Placeshifter technology to stream the Pastor's message via the internet. Has your team tried anything like this before (multi-site chuch)? If you ever find yourself in Connecticut, please give me a holler and stop in for a visit! God Bless! (in reply to flascrnwrtr) |
