Hi, This is my first post here. A few days ago I've uploaded my first ad done with Vegas8Pro and DJ tools - The Silent Killer. After a few comments, I came to the conclusion that I would like to improve the text. I'll change the font type and the size, but the most important for me is to introduce text animation which will at the end of each text message 'dissolve' it into the water. I want this effect to reinforce the idea that kids can 'dissapear' in the water (with out the fight and screams). I saw a few good effects done with flash or AF and other high end text editors. I don't have them so I'm looking for poor man solution... Any help will be wellcome... |

Welcome to the forums VH. Hope you stick around and stay active. I can't help with your question, but I'm sure someone will be able to.

I don't know how elaborate your looking to get, but maybe something simple like using the ProType titler where at the end you move the text down the x axis as the text blurs and dissapears behind a mask at water level???

What you really want to do is put the titles IN the water ... and you do that with a height maps. Here's an article I wrote on that topic. http://dvformat.digitalmedianet.com/articles/viewarticle.jsp?id=141417 Finding the right video and using keyframes and Vegas transitions and such can make for a very cool effect. As I excuse myself from the room. Jeffrey you are the man. I was picturing a tank of water like you would view from the side and a simple disolve effect. Your way is much, much cooler. And wetter!!!! _____________________________ It's not that I don't know how to do it. It's when I click this button it doesn't work. Wait, did that just flash. Oh God...it's smoking. Hey Jeff - I have used that technique based on your article - It was great! It was one of the first things of consequence I did with Vegas and got me lots of credibility at work! _____________________________ DJ Counts (Hundreds+) "It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it." - Aristotle My Juice: http://video.birdcat.com/djlist.txt (in reply to Zelkien69) |

Wet n' Wild --- . This is actually one of my favorite things to do. Obviously water is big and cool, but many subtle effects are yours for the taking with the right video and keyframing to control the height map. In the tutorial you see the water, but you don't have to do it that way; composite this effect over anything. Since the video height map drives the text in P/C, you never have to see the underlying video. Btw: this works great with client logos! --JPF _____________________________ Sony Vegas Certified Trainer http://www.jeffreypfisher.com (in reply to Zelkien69) |

I was just going through Jeffrey's tutorial the other day. What a great Vegas feature. We are very fortunate to have Jeffrey here, his knowledge of Vegas amazes me.

Thanks for the kind words, everybody -- just showing some alternatives beyond cuts and dissolves. >>http://digitalproducer.digitalmedianet.com/articles/viewarticle.jsp?id=16292 The prob with this article is it uses the OLD Vegas compositing engine from Vegas 4 which was changed in V5 and beyond. Good stuff in its day, though. --jpf _____________________________ Sony Vegas Certified Trainer http://www.jeffreypfisher.com (in reply to verticalheat) |
