The new Adobe CS3 recently came out for Mac. Not included, however, is the amazing audio editor, Adobe Audition. Instead, Soundbooth took it's place. I feel Soundbooth is very plain and limited for advanced audio editing.

Audition is made for PC only.

So my question is, is there something out there that will allow me to run Audition (a PC app) on my Mac?

BootCamp and a number of other applications allow you to install a Windows OS on your Mac.  Some of these apps require you to restart your computer and reboot into Windows (effectively turning your Mac INTO a PC) while some allow you to run Windows as a window under MacOs.

Caution: There are countless horror stories out there about the two OS's living side by side.  If Mission Critical reliability is an issue, buy a cheap PC with Windows and install Audition there as you will be paying for both the facilitating software (like BootCamp) as well as a seat of Windows if you choose to run Windows on your Mac.  Or is Boot Camp free now?

I have successfully run it on the Mac with Parallels. The great thing about Parallels is that it opens a new window with XP in it, and allows you to run Audition, and other Windows programs in it. If for some reason, the Parallels/Windows window locks up, you can force quit Parallels and leave your Mac apps unaffected.

Bootcamp comes with the latest versions of OSX, but Parallels will cost you extra. For me, it's been worth it to not have to reboot :)

Also depends on your MAC processor - Parallels is supported on PowerPC G4/G5 (I'm running it on my Dual G5) - although you are limited in the amount of RAM; and USB devices used on the "PC" aren't available on the MAC.

I'm also running VMWare Fusion on my MacBook Pro (Intel processor) - much faster, more stable then with Parallels.

Haven't tried boot camp since it was in beta - I prefer NOT to have to re-boot into a single OS (I like the idea of them 'sharing' - especially external drives, folders, etc. between them)

Actually Jack, the latest version of Parallels run on the intel processors also. I'm running it on a 8 core MacPro without any problems.

Yes, VirtualPC really sucked. It was unstable and really, really slow!

It still sucks - still slow, still crashes. But it's the only one that is currently supported on PowerPC platform. And even then, it's not 'officially' supported on OSX 10.5

I use Aftereffects on top of Leopard using paralells on a macbook pro 2.4, and it does a pretty good job, running the latest version of parallels.

Regards
