Interesting- I didn't realize that they were retiring some of the early ST as well. Kuz. _____________________________ Production Manager, WGTE-TV30 Director (news), WUPW ------------------- Juice to Date: 100 or so Latest Buy: CTK (in reply to mptribe) |

Looks like they're cutting down the number of tracks like they're cutting down the number of graphics on Juice Drops. Looks like StackTraxx 8 was the first one to only have 20 tracks. All the ones before had 40.

Very interesting; glad I've bought everything (almost!) from DJ... and hey speaking of which, I hope they have some new STX/HDJBs available for sale soon... great production stuff here. -k _____________________________ Ken JB/STX/ETKs/SFX/JBHD/BTX/MDEs: most (in reply to jkhorton) |

I'm thinking that something big is coming... maybe a series of volumes in each product line will be coming out soon. There have been very few new releases, except for the PDEs and the ultra cool ETKpro line. There's been lots of cool offers with the old stuff but there's a limit to how exciting D/J can market discountinued items. And I am hoping they have been buying time while stockpiling lots of new items. (I am trying to save my money and gift certificates for something new I can use.) If the old stuff is really being retired, then there needs to be new product being cooked up to continue the dynasty of D/J. I am confident that D/J will not disappoint.

I think some of the old stuff will be coming back in smaller volumes. The old StackTraxx they could divide into two volumes. Some of the old Juice Drops, however, won't be coming back. The others will get divided and put into a smaller sized volume.

Personally I'd like to see some more cinematic/drama and techno type STX, After Effects AE Templates, and new HD Jump Backs... It's rather unusual to discontinue items, since they can be sold and resold forever ... hopefully it's not just some temporary scarcity ploy, and they'll all be back at year's end etc.. -k _____________________________ Ken JB/STX/ETKs/SFX/JBHD/BTX/MDEs: most (in reply to jkhorton) |

You just missed the sale on STX 40. It came out around Christmas for $14.95. Probably won't see it on sale for a while, but I have been wrong before on this matter.

My questions are: 1)Will these discontinued volumes still be supported in future Juicer releases? 2) Will "new, retooled, or partial" releases of the older versions be marked as such (e.g. contains material formerly found in JD volumes 2 & 3)? _____________________________ Bob www.southcoastmultimedia.com (in reply to flascrnwrtr) |

Personally I'd like to see any retooled volumes come out as a new product line. Maybe call them Juice Drops Classics and StackTraxx Classics or something like that. That way they would be easily identifable as being retooled products.

I'm harvesting the $9.95 deals like mad too. At last count, I think I have 21 volumes waiting in my "combined shipping" order - and still two weeks to go before shipping becomes mandatory. Whatever form these retired volumes may come back in, you can bet it's not going to be at this price!

I know what ya'll mean. My held orders are saving me a ton-o-shipping charges right now. I'm taking all the cash I'm saving on shipping and utilizing it to buy more product...and I have about two weeks to go before I have to ship. I think I've only missed one $9.95 special so far..... Yep, like they said, they're entirely focusing on the Pro line now. That's gotta mean Weddings, Christmas, etc.

Some new Wedding sets would be a nice addition to the ETK Pro line. Also, c'mon Dave, lets give Wizard and some others some racing annimations. He has been very patient. _____________________________ Juice to Date: 682 of 696 (in reply to GlobeReacher) |

I just went to B and H, and checked out their prices for Stack Traxx. Could not believe the price. Somewhere around $300.00 Talk about getting a profit!!!!!!

Paul - Dont know if youve ever had the chance to visit B&H but they have such an unbelievably outrageous overhead there that to see a "$50" item like that sell for $300 makes sense. Obviously they bought in bulk and didnt pay what we pay individually but even if they did... They cant mark up their cameras, lenses, camcorders, etc. because they want to be the best price in town. so they have to make their money in peripherals and "not so popular" items like DJ stuff which to the "rest of the world" doesnt have a commonly known street price. A friend of mine who used to sell product to B&H once told me they have to do $3 million in sales every DAY to break even. Wouldnt doubt it for a second. With their location, payroll, expenses, and the amount of sales they do it makes sense. _____________________________ Jason Aron --- My Juice - Click Here Photography, Web Design - Click Here My Music Site (New Songs Posted) (in reply to pauld) |

When Stack traxx first came out they were $249 a volume if I remember correctly. B&H was a reseller at that time, I don't think they re now, maybe it's left over stock, I don't know though.

3 million a day to break even? That would be $1,095,000,000 a year just to break even, that seems pretty crazy to me. Maybe they should stop giving away the chewy candy on every counter, that stuff was awesome I must have had 50 pieces

Am I just dreaming this or doesn't B&H have a big tree in the store? Per their website they still have Digital Juice products in stock. Of course they are all at old suggested retail prices (except Backtracks 1 & 2 were list at $109 and 149 respectfully, the shelf filling version anyway). ETK 3 for a mere $399.

Matt - Remember they are closed every friday night and every saturday as well as every jewish holiday (they have been closed for the last 8 days for passover - and that includes their website, they dont take online orders) Since you know about the chewy candy you know they probably have about 200-300 employees in the store at once not including their brooklyn mail order center. It makes sense when you think about it, they sell some very high priced items with very low markup, Id love to know how much profit they even do on 3 million. _____________________________ Jason Aron --- My Juice - Click Here Photography, Web Design - Click Here My Music Site (New Songs Posted) (in reply to Matt) |

Jon - the camcorders are situated in a circle surrounding as you stated a nice big fake tree. About 20 feet over from there they have a huge train set with all of their high end cameras mounted around it so you can test the video quality. very mr rogers-esc _____________________________ Jason Aron --- My Juice - Click Here Photography, Web Design - Click Here My Music Site (New Songs Posted) (in reply to playanumber99) |

I guess it could be that much now that I think about, every place I've ever worked at uses them. It is a great store and they have great service and i always thought they had great prices too. I know they also spend a ton on advertising. _____________________________ mattjanowsky.com (in reply to playanumber99) |

I predict that none of the "discontinued" items will truly stay discontinued (just like the backtracks didn't, and neither did the presenter's toolkit.. I'm still upset I spent $350 on it and it was put on sale for a fraction of that a year or two later). I would be very surprised if, by Christmas, everything is made available here and there via various "overstock sales" or other tactics designed to elicit frantic purchases. Past behavior is the best predictor of future behavior, and I think the ETKs, despite protests to the contrary, WILL resurface for limited-time sales etc, like everything else has. Just wait and see. I like the idea of "scarcity-inducing" marketing, and DJ does a good job of it, but I don't like "fake scarcity", saying things will never be sold again, just to elicit sales, then see them resurface later, as that is likely non-FTC compliant re advertising regulations, and as many have posted, is something many don't like re business practices. -k _____________________________ Ken JB/STX/ETKs/SFX/JBHD/BTX/MDEs: most (in reply to Matt) |

^ i am new around these parts, and dont mind if they keep raising the dead with these products all those isos are sitting on someone's computer .. i said before i dont need fancy pakage just the working disc at that sweet low price you vets may have paid alot back in the day, but that just mean your products / projects were looking better than everyone elses BACK THEN i took for granted that those 9.99 deals would last forever when i got here and didnt know about the hold item feature until it was too late so i too feel the sick in the stomach LOL (in reply to ken) |
