I am trying to render Editors tool Kit Pro to an AVI for Avid liquid 7.2. I change the canvas setting to the NTSC widescreen preset in the juicer. Then I have tried all kinds of settings in the layer transformation (stretch to fit)... I then render out to AVI and when I import into Liquid it is 4.3. What am I doing wrong. I have even tried TGA sequences and changed my image import in my liquid control panel to 16.9 and I still get 4.3 HELP! Jim |

Hi Jim. Nice name. It's mine too. Let's see. Have you tried this? In the Juicer, make sure you are running the latest copy, Build 268D. If not, download it and install it. In the Juicer: Canvas-> set to 720x480 NTSC Widescreen. Layer->Transformation->Auto Scale to Canvas Output->Format->AVI The preview panel should show the image with empty space on the top and bottom. Physical laws of science apply for SD. It is still 720x480 and the image is 16:9. If you are doing HD, pick one of the HD formats. Render the selection. In Liquid, create a sequence of 16x9. Import the AVI into Liquid. drag it onto the 16:9 avi clip onto the 16x9 timeline. Let me know what happens. Welcome to the forum. Same result. I think this is what I have been doing all along. My work around right now has been to right click the DJ imported AVI in my Liquid Rack, select properties and use scaling (fit both)to make it 16x9. I just wish it worked right away. Any other possible solutions? Thanks Jim (in reply to windhamjim) |

I don't have a copy of the ETK Pro series with me. When I get home tonight, I'll give it a shot. Are you working with SD or HD?? _____________________________ Jim "It is fun doing the impossible" Quote from Walt Disney (in reply to crazyredeyes) |

Tell me which one is causing you a problem. I have all of them and perhaps there is an unknown issue with the ones you are using.

Back again, sorry. Try playing the Juicer generated AVI in windows media player and see how it looks.

Im Windows media player it looks ok. I am using ETK pro 2 007 corporate bond. It has to be something in liquid I think. In Liquid my widescreen looks wider than in WMP., but in WMP the Avi is not square 4x3. I'm not sure what I'm doing. My timeline and video is 16x9 but my DJ is importing 4X3. Thanks. Right click the properties of the AVI file and see what it says about 4:3 and 16:9. Interesting.

I rendered an SD jumpback as widescreen 16:9 and I see the AVI as 4:3. This is before I import it into Liquid. Perhaps Eric or someone with all this aspect SD/HD knowledge can weigh in here. I would expect the Juicer window to resize from a 4:3 to a 16:9 canvas OR show a 720x480 canvas with the video clip squashed with black strips on the top and bottom. _____________________________ Jim "It is fun doing the impossible" Quote from Walt Disney (in reply to crazyredeyes) |

It could be (a) the Juicer is incorrectly flagging the pixel aspect ratio (PAR) in the clip or (b) Liquid is not reading the flag correctly. I'll give it a whirl and see what the Juicer is producing a little later, but manually telling Liquid to use the 16x9 PAR is a perfectly good workaround that won't sacrifice any quality at all. This is a simple file header flag issue with how the pixels are being interpretted: either way, it's the same 720x480 pixels, either with a 0.919 PAR or with a 1.21 PAR, but still the same, identical pixels. UPDATE: OK, another possibility, (a1) the Juicer is incorrectly flagging this or (a2) something up with the AVI format, because the file I rendered out of the Juicer does not have a 1.21 PAR flag in it, so manually telling Liquid the proper PAR is the way to go. I have no idea if this is a trivial fix or if it's even possible for the dev team to fix, however. < Message edited by D. Eric Franks -- 2/15/2008 6:29:41 PM > (in reply to windhamjim) |

I have tried for a long time render 16.9 wide format but not sucessful. Instead I used to resize in Avid Liquid 7.2. Hi crazyredeyes, What exactly are you editing and what are your timeline properties set to in Liquid? I'm editing widescreen as well HDV or 1080i mpeg on this end. My timeline is 1440 x 1080 16 x 9. I render out of DJ at the same, in avi using the MJPEG Pic Video codec and it works like a charm but that's only for the jb's. < Message edited by Logos -- 2/19/2008 9:30:15 PM > (in reply to Dashn) |
