I have a question about the file size of VideoTraxx. If you look at the files on the disks that are a lot smaller then if you use the Juicer to render them. Why is this? Can I just use the smaller files on the DVD's or should I continue to use the Juicer and the larger files sizes? Is there a benefit to this? I have always just used the juicer and never really looked at the files on the disk until today. Thanks for the help Chris |

What codec do you normally render videotraxx to?

I don't remeber what the exact number were but a video on the disk was about 60meg and after rendering it was over 400meg. I didn't make any changes to it just piced Sorenson and set it to high. (in reply to turkcsg) |

quote: Sorenson 3, while an excellent DISTRIBUTION format, is not really an editing format. Animation, DV, some MPEG variants, Uncompressed are all examples of editing codecs. ANd yes, these are significantly larger file sizes than S3. I don't own any VideoTraxx so I can't specifically answer your question as to whether or not to use the files right off the discs but in every other application (except layered JuiceDrops) I use the Juicer. I was not working on a project this time. My 8 year old was wanting to try some editing so I thought I would try and compress the files down a bit so that he could play around but not bog the system down with larger video files. But when I looked at the file size it just confused me the compressed file was 7x the size of the original file. I just don't understand how the files increase so much in size when you use the juicer.

The files on the Discs may be MPEG variants with long GOPs. Going to a codec like DV would increase files by a factor of 6-7x easy but going to S3 surprises me. Because I don't own VideoTraxx, I'll leave the speculating to those in the know. Just thought I might be able to help in the interim. quote: Either you are the coolest parent ever or you have some kind of child labour thing going on Good luck getting everything sorted out. Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance. (in reply to turkcsg) |
