Preserving Our Recollections Promo Video (2.54 MB)
Uploaded on 9/28/2007 by Todd Mizomi  (Show Portfolio)

Preserving Our Recollections is an ongoing project we do at Maui Community College which chronicles the lives of the families of our community and showcases the diverse range of cultures we have on our island. To date we have interviewed over 300 members of our community. Earlier this year I was fortunate enough to do an on-location interview shoot with Eleanor Watanabe - "The Christmas Tree Lady" (the last person shown in this promo). When I learned that she had passed away recently, I was asked to create a promo for this show. Thanks to Digital Juice, I was able to quickly put this together to both promote the show and pay a small tribute to Eleanor.

Nice music, editing, and choice of colors. I'm not a fan of the font choice as any script/handwritten font can sometimes be more difficult to read on the screen.

Great work! Nice lighting and footage of the people. The people looked very relaxed which is not always an easy task to accomplish.
Good choice of DJ: music, lower third, BG, etc. that fit well with the theme.

Two small suggestions:

1. Vertically flip the yellow/brown background so the darker browns are near the bottom. It appears top heavy with the yellow at bottom and heavier dark brown above the heads.

2. The relaxed font is a good idea but "Staccato" font can be difficult to read quickly. Possible substitution: Brushscript (font comes with the computer) is very similar to Staccato.
