Great lesson! Well done with the "easy" explanation of the Histogram… not too sure of the slide show though… seemed to be a bit… "Propaganda-Driven" ROFL. The cow was a nice touch… MOO!

As always, exellent information. I know it is difficult to cover anything in depth in just a few minutes, but you always find a way to get us started in the right direction with a good foundation. Great work.

ps - Congratulations on the deal with Adobe (advertising) and the decision to just go with FLASH videos. Less work for you and still great quality for us.

Ace is proving himself a great, personable presenter! Sometime before the end of the season, though, it'd be nice if he "took apart" the opening sequence to show us exactly how it got put together.

This is so cool. I really needed a primer on using the color correction tools and and I have been able to put this knowledge to work already. Moo!

Thanks guys!

Great tips. Its amazing these days to see how much you can fix so easily when you don't get it exactly right in the field. I had used this feature of Final Cut before, but I'd never actually had someone show me how it was "supposed" to actually work. Thanks!

Very impressive. Think this could be a great addition to what we currently are using with Digital Juice programs. Keep Up The Good Work!

Nice Episode - I think this DJTV shows is one of my favorites :)....Digital Juice products would be a whole lot less AMAZING without DJTV. The Product is Phenomenal - but the episodes are what make the product worth buying....the best part - THEY ARE FREE :) YAY

Very helpful. In my previous career the responsibility fell to me for all of our organization's video production and I had to learn "on the fly." I knew I had these tools at my disposal, but I figured messing with them without some direction would be just that--messing--and there was never time for messing with my deadlines.
Moo
Now I run my own Audio/Video business producing albums, jingles, wedding videos, tradeshow videos, keepsake videos, and even occassionally trying to color correct a transfer order, but without any real education on it--just messing. So far I've been really lucky.
Moo
It was Very helpful to see these an example of these tools in proper use. It's even more helpful that Gates used Final Cut Pro--the exact tools I will be using as I cut and color correct in the future.
Moo
Thanks DJTV

This helps me out a lot, because I do a lot of wedding videos. Also you used Final Cut Pro for the color correction tool for this footage. Are there any other video editing programs that you suggest for color correction? I personally use Adobe Premiere Pro

I've never seen so many comments on one show! Is it the iPhone or Ace? Bro you should wear the hairdo more often, it's quite becoming. Joking aside Ace did a fantastic job!! I can't tell you how many times I've passed up using the color corrector because I just didn't understand. In one swoop Ace has challenged me and given me confidence I can perform this task - at least I'll try now! This is what it's all about - meeting customer needs. DJ continues to push the bar up. You provide great products, ideas, training, and constantly pushing the creative outlet in each of us. Continue on my brothers!

Ace, another outstanding job. After working in the news room for years, I have had to correct more than my fair-share of video. Even showing just the basics, you have given me an idea or two that I will take with me the next time I sit down in front of the editor to tweak footage. And, it's like you said, just about every shot of footage can be tweaked to give it that extra shine. Well done Ace, and I can't wait until you Cut Class again.

I use Final Cut Pro, but have never used the 3 way color corrector. This was so helpful. I will probably watch it again several times to make note of all the steps he's doing to adjust the color of his image. Thanks for creating these Digital Juice - keep them coming!

Very good presentation! Before shooting, I am wondering what can be done to the camera besides white balance, to try to avoid the need for color correction.

Color correcting is always a chore that many don't like to do. But with this episode of DJTV it is made a little bit easier. I like the way the color correcting is explained. I liked how Chris explained luminance and how it effects the image.

The historgram was useful to; not sure about Jimmy but he is happier now as the girl in the video has a white smile. Every week I make sure to tune into Chris as he cuts class and I keep cutting away in the cutting room.

Thanks Chris.

Sweet! This video was exceptionally helpful. I've tried messing with automatic color correcting and it never seems to really get it right. Every time I do manual, since I didn't fully understand it, I always end up going back to what I started with because I didn't like the outcome. You guys really make it easier to understand and make it very accessible.

Wonderful! I've been a big fan of the 3-way color corrector but only to the extent of using the auto functions. I now have a much better understanding of histograms and the usefulness of doing it manually. Thanks for another great episode. I'm going to go play with my pixels now.

Chris, It's your footage..Do what you want with it!!! (Bob Ross).

I thought this was a great episode. I had been stumbling around with color correction until it looked right. Now I can better use my time by making intentional corrections.

MOO. You can now proceed to the next comment.

Hi,
I love DJTV! I have worked with Final Cut for several years now, and while I have used the color correction tool in the past, I have not managed to make the color correction work the way I wanted it to. Now I see that I was getting the wash effect, and I know how to fix it.

Thanks,

In the episode "The Joy of Coloring" I enjoyed learning all the different ways that you can fix color in video editing. I really liked how Cris "Ace" used the 3 way color corrector tool and how he changed the luminace brightness of values in Final Cut Pro. My question to you,how can I fix the color if I am using another program like Adobe Premiere Pro?

Thanks, David Coffey

Thanks for the class, interesting but I want more. Is like you teach me how to walk but not to run.
I liked the classroom is that 3d or is it real? Your shots and lighting are great as usual.
Please let me know how to use the histogram a little bit more. And explain
a little bit about color 100 percent value. What is the meaning of it that professionals
always ask for. And how can you get it with Final Cut Pro.

As always, Ace never fails to amaze. I always regarded color correction as something tedious and complicated. I must admit, as soon as I was done watching this episode, I went str8 to my MAC and started practicing some color correction using the same technique and the results are stellar.

This has got to be the best series on DJTV by far [no offense to the other ones] I really wanna thank ACE and the DJTV team. You guys deserve an emmy or something.

This is so relevant to me I am just beginning to really use Final Cut studio 2 and trying to get my head around color. I have learned so much from all these cutting class but this one is so important to me as natural eye popping finished product is important in my new project. This opened my eyes to the mystery of color correcting. you make it seem so easy.
Thanks,.. again!
