In this tutorial, Edius editor Pat Sipes discusses the synergistic combination of real time editing in Edius and the use of the instant pre-rendered animated mattes found in Digital Juice's Matte Magic collection. He shows you how to blend the black and white animated Matte Magic clips with your footage using the Keyer/Track Matte effect added to the footage clip track. He also shows you how to experiment with some different creative techniques such as adding an animated background behind the matted footage, taking a still of the end frame of a Breakthroughs matte and using it to frame your footage for a title or opening sequence, as well as scaling, softening or repositioning a matte to match the action better using the Edius Layout feature. He then walks you through the steps of setting up a transition between two clips using the Matte Magic TransWipes, and discusses ways to soften or customize mattes using a series of layered Edius effects applied to the matte.
