Juice Drop 6 CLIENTS

WHAT IF YOU COULD dissect every piece of stock illustration you
bought and use the pieces again and again for different clients
without repeating yourself? You'd probably be using Juice Drops
and you'd definitely be saving money. Your clients don't have to
know that you paid less than a dollar for the image, so your bank
account doesn't suffer. And your creative urge can still be satisfied
because how you use the illustration's pieces is entirely up to
you. We decided to test this theory out. We took one illustration,
Juice Drop #2769 from Volume 27: glassEDGE and used it six different
ways for six unique clients. Check out the results below.

Poster for blood donation organization. BRIEF:
Keep it simple. Get the message across clearly. Make it
cheap. CLIENT PROFILE:
Hates busy backgrounds. Loves illustrations. Won't waste
time or money. LAYERS
USED/EDITING WORK DONE: #4-27/Dropped linked layers
against a black background. Scaled layers up by 170% to
fit 11";x17"; poster. |

layers against a red background. Drop shadow layer was
lightened to 40% opacity. |

Make it rich looking. Nothing crazy, but modern and abstract.
CLIENT PROFILE:
Conservative company looking to branch out into new areas.
LAYERS USED/EDITING WORK
DONE: #1/Background used as is for top two thirds
of cover, then a copy was made and saturation/lightness
were lowered for a watermark effect in lower third of
cover. |

Web Site for a directory of dance clubs in New York area.
BRIEF: Keep home
page simple, cool. Add some mystery and fluid movement
to the graphics. CLIENT
PROFILE: Young, hip, cool. Has finger on the pulse
of the city. Can get you VIP passes to the next big thing.

DONE: #1/Central portion of background layer was
cropped and colorized using Hue/Saturation. |

Arlo Melvin, Envoy Chess Club PROJECT:
Invitation to first meeting of the club. BRIEF:
Cool people play chess too. Make the invitation appeal
to women and men. CLIENT
PROFILE: High school friend. Made a million before
he was 30. Doesn't care how much you charge for your work
but wants it fast. LAYERS
USED/EDITING WORK DONE: #1/Rotated background 90
degrees, cropped and colorized it to purple with Hue/Saturation.
Added chess piece and hand illustration element from another
Juice Drop (#2506 from Volume 25: shadedEDGE) to increase
the cool factor and appeal to women. |

Dr. Cooper Brown, University Press PROJECT:
Textbook cover for Molecular Biology course.
BRIEF: Keep to primary
colors. Don't make it fussy. Make the cover stand out
on the shelf. CLIENT
PROFILE: Eccentric professor. Will go back and
forth 20 times before finalizing the first design you
showed him.
LAYERS USED/EDITING WORK DONE: #1, #3, #28/Red
molecule layer (#28) scaled up and put against black background.
Blue molecule layer (#3) scaled up and placed over piece
of background layer (#1) converted to greyscale. Both
layers #1 and #3 placed over blue background using Luminosity
blending mode. |
